It’s European’s ‘breakfast’...........

If you’ve ever read any Charles Dickens books it’s standard fare even back in the early 1800’s............

Same reason that here in the US if you work at a restaurant and they either give you a meal or let you take home left over food it is taxable.

If your employer gives you scratch off, gift cards or leftover promotional items like t-shirts, beach balls or key chains those are also taxable.

The government is very greedy.

Is it only the white, English speaking countries that serve large breakfasts with eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, grits, oatmeal, and fruit?

I worked at a country club and we got charged for meals whether we ate or not. Depended on what shift you worked how much you were charged. It was added in as compensation and then taxed. Tips too.

We used to have ice cream tastings as part of the job.

There was a push by the government to tax that as compensation.

Our accountants team went after them hammer and tongs finally threatening to go to the media about their trying to tax an eighth of a teaspoon of ice cream.

They backed down.

Large breakfasts are a by country thing. A Cyprus breakfast is amazing and Polish breakfasts are really good.

Then you’ve never been to Germany.... Thats standard fare.

I have not been. I lived in France for a year, where breakfast is usually just bread and butter, and Spain for three years, where I don't recall that breakfast was much different.

Cold cuts just sound odd to me.

It’s definitely a German breakfast, which is not much like breakfast that I had in France, Spain, or even Switzerland.

I stayed in a Bed and Breakfast inn in Germany back in 2000 and again in 2001.

Breakfast was coffee, juice, rolls, cold cuts and boiled eggs..................

So do socks and sandals. But that’s just how the Germans roll :-)
