Screenwriter’s Harvey Weinstein Confession: ‘Everybody-F—ing-Knew’ [warning: language]
The Wrap ^ | October 16, 2017 | Ashley Boucher

Scott Rosenberg, a friend from Miramax’s glory days, says he’s “sorry and ashamed”

Scott Rosenberg, a screenwriter who has worked on Miramax films such as “Beautiful Girls” and “Things to do in Denver When You’re Dead,” has taken to Facebook to voice his opinions on the Harvey Weinstein scandal that has been rocking Hollywood for the past few weeks.

Rosenberg says that he was at Miramax for what he calls the “golden age,” when films like “Pulp Fiction,” “Shakespeare in Love” and “Good Will Hunting” were made and released. He also said that he was young and “sure he had struck gold” by working with the Weinstein brothers, Harvey and Bob.

Now, however, he sees it differently.

“Everybody-f—ing-knew,” he wrote, saying that Harvey Weinstein had “a certain pattern of overly-aggressive behavior that was rather dreadful.”

“We knew about the man’s hunger; his fervor; his appetite. There was nothing secret about this voracious rapacity; like a gluttonous ogre out of the Brothers Grimm,” Rosenberg continued. “All couched in vague promises of potential movie roles.”

“And to me, if Harvey’s behavior is the most reprehensible thing one can imagine, a not-so-distant second is the current flood of sanctimonious denial and condemnation that now crashes upon these shores of rectitude in gloppy tides of bullshit righteousness,” he continued. “Because everybody-f—ing-knew.”

Rosenberg clarified that while the full extent of Weinstein’s misconduct was not known, something “was rotten.”

“Not the rapes. Not the shoving against the wall. Not the potted-plant f—ing”–he and several others did know that “something was bubbling under. Something odious. Something rotten.”

Rosenberg added that at the time, if he had wanted to do something, he would have been at a loss, because most of the accusers did not want to come forward, Weinstein “owned the press” and the internet wasn’t what it is today.

He said that although some actress friends told him horrible stories about Weinstein, he chose to believe it to be “a grotesque display of power; a dude misreading the room and making a lame-if-vile pass.”

He said that he is “sorry and ashamed,” because “in the end, I was complicit.”

“As the old joke goes: We needed the eggs,” he said. “Okay, maybe we didn’t NEED them. But we really, really, really, really LIKED them eggs. So we were willing to overlook what the Golden Goose was up to, in the murky shadows behind the barn … And for that, I am eternally sorry.”

“To all of the women that had to suffer this… I am eternally sorry,” he repeated. “I’ve worked with Mira and Rosanna and Lysette. I’ve known Rose and Ashley and Claire for years… Their courage only hangs a lantern on my shame. And I am eternally sorry to all those who suffered in silence all this time. And have chosen to remain silent today.”

Oddly enough, Rosenberg's Facebook post has been taken down.

Hollywood is far from dead and this behavior will persist. Sorry, ladies, if your perpetrator is a high-level Leftist, the #EstablishmentMedia will cover for him -- and even participate in victimizing you further in their attacks. Your peers will look the other way. The authorities will be bought off, if not intimidated.

So close your eyes and think of your next part -- hoping it will be worth it.

Bullies perpetrate because they know they will not be held accountable. That guarantees there will be more victims.

There are many WOMEN thinking to themselves that they would glad go f*** Weinstein right now for a movie part.

There is a two-way street sometimes.

NOT TO SAY I approve of any of this.

Hollywood is far from dead and this behavior will persist.

These guys hold the keys to fame, fortune, celebrity, and grandeur, a lifestyle people only dream about. And they weren't given these keys by being nice guys. They got them by being scumbags and stepping on everyone in their way.

Two young women stand in front of them, vying for that one role that will change their lives forever, giving them access to the club of the rich and beautiful. There's the couch. Which one of you wants the role and which one of you wants a bus ticket back home to your loser tattooed boyfriends and your old job at Walmart?

Weinstein “owned the press” and the internet wasn’t what it is today.

There, in a nutshell, is one of the biggest factors in the corruption of American public life. How did a sitting Secretary of the Interior manage to sell oil rights to his partners in crime? He owned the press, and when he didn't we had the Teapot Dome scandal. How does a sitting Secretary of State sell the rights to one-quarter of a vital strategic resource to her partners in Russia? She owned the press, and we do not have a scandal in that regard because she still does.

I said it before. This is a golden opportunity. If the Republicans had any sense of testicular fortitude - or a desire to MAGA for ALL individuals - they'd call a press conference and say:

"Democrats are clearly pro-misogyny. Silence equals consent. They said nothing while one of their fundraisers roamed as a sexual predator in Hollywood.

"It is sad that the loudest Democrat since this story broke has been Hillary Clinton, as she acknowledged that the Oval Office has seen a sexual predator - her husband.

"The Republican leadership asks the Democrats to reject their harboring of anti-woman fundraisers, and join us as we announce the start of hearings on this poisonous atmosphere in Hollywood, with an eye toward regulating studios and actors and actresses under the Commerce Clause as so many Democrats have with other parts of the economy."

The consequences for young women because of the Leftist culture cannot be underestimated. The Sexual Revolution, abortion, contraception were supposed to empower women.

Instead they have made it so young women are expected to service men sexually in order to gain social acceptance and/or job security.

The Bill Clinton Presidency drove that point home; if you are a Leftist and in a position of authority, you have carte blanche to victimize women any way you want.

Is the latest generation of women to blame for this? It is all they know.

I agree with you.

Do not condone Weinstein and what he was doing.

But there were likely a number of women, who chose voluntarily to being with him, who perhaps sought him out, in order to get ahead in Hollywood.

It’s hard to believe that Meryl Streep and others are shocked, just shocked about all this.

When we go back and see Harvey Weinstein jokes planted in sitcoms from years ago, and a Harvey Weinstein joke from the Academy Awards a few years ago, well, clearly there was some common knowledge, or open secrets, about this man.

There was a gal whose house I was parked in front of in my 20s.

Things were, er, getting a little steamy.

She invite me in. Me being the weak willed lad I was, opened the car door.

She told me her TWO and FIVE year old were asleep.

I went home and took a cold shower.

There would have only been a ONE way street with me being wrong to go in.

A woman letting a guy she met THAT NIGHT into her house with 2 kids is STUPID.

What a crazy guy could have done to those kids would be the CRIME.

This is only the beginning.

Some speculate it's all coming out now because the Clinton Crime Syndicate, out of power, can't protect their big donors.

Now this is a decent guy. Owning up to it. Plus he wasn’t that powerful and might not have been able to have an effect.

But you know WHO could have had an effect, gotten Harvey thrown out years earlier, and prevented many attacks?????

The effing fake feminists Hillary Clinton and Queen Meryl, that’s who! They had nooooo ideeeeea, which is total BS. I knew. So they knew. They knew damn well. And they were powerful enough to help stop him. Neither one tried because they didn’t care.
