I might let them unlock a detached tool shed. Thars about it

My understanding there was a similar service in the wild west. This is just the modern way to get a candygram.

Oh, c’mon!
Let’s say you are taking a bath and realize you have no clean towels but your smart phone is within reach. You go to Amazon, order a towel and a guy brings it straight to you in the tub. Who needs house maids and servants? We can all be kings.

They forgot about the part where the courier unlocks a window from the inside.

Wasn’t Walmart or some grocery chain proposing the same? Call me crazy but I’d rather look down the block, under the shrubbery and behind the right back tire for my packages.

So, robbers follow Amazon guy, sneak up behind him as he’s unlocking the door, then walk into home. Tie him up and the house is theirs.
Did anyone speak up at the meeting when they hatched this failure?

What’s ALREADY going wrong is: a lot of packages are being stolen off porches, when recipients are predictably not around to receive them personally, and there’s nowhere else to have the package safely delivered.
Y’all got a better idea? You know when the courier arrives, they’re expected in a narrow timeframe, actions are recorded, and entry/exit time is noted. Anything more than “open door, drop package, close door” is immediately flagged and investigated, with lots of video & metadata proof of activity. Sounds like a win for many customers.
And no, you don’t have to use it.
I’ve heard plenty of such snark about many technologies we all use daily now. I remember the guffaws at “pay for french fries with a credit card? are you kidding? clerk will steal my number!” and now most here do without a thought.
Best cases will be those with a vestibule: Amazon Key opens outer door for secure delivery, while inner door stays locked. Might finally give me an excuse to enclose the front porch.
