The National Rifle Association is reportedly being investigated by New York regulators. No, its not that the state has finally figured out a way to undermine the organizations strong Second Amendment stance or its effectiveness throughout the nation in blocking infringements on our right to keep and bear arms. No, its something far more insidious.
Theyre concerned the NRA is selling their Carry Guard insurance without a license.
New York regulators launched an investigation into the National Rifle Associations role in the self-defense insurance program that bears its name.
The probe by the states Department of Financial Services will focus on whether the gun lobby is improperly promoting the policy and receiving commissions without a proper license, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The NRA released NRA Carry Guard insurance at its annual conference in April. The program underwritten by Chubb Ltd and administered by Lockton Cos offers policies to cover legal fees for patrons who claim self defense after a shooting. Lockton told the Associated Press that theyre cooperating with investigators.
The New York department launched the probe a week after advocacy groups Guns Down and Color of Change launched a campaign, dubbed Stop Murder Insurance, to pressure Chubb and Lockton to drop NRAs business. Of course, calling the insurance murder insurance is beyond even the typical anti-gun nonsense. Neither Carry Guard insurance or insurance available through the USCCA covers anyone for cold-blooded murder.

The left seems to be declaring war on anything conservative.
AAA and AARP and my Credit Union and others send me life insurance offers all the time.
Offers covered by some big-name legit company.
What’s the difference?
Good!
I heard they’ve been conducting gun safety classes, and that’s gotta be stopped.
The piece looked like it was filmed long ago.

They’re offering insurance through Lockton Affinity who does this for other organizations as well.
I’m no fan of AAA or AARP, but I believe both of them are the actual insurers, not resellers of 3rd party programs.
So, to be clear: New York is not going after the NRA because NY’rs are somehow being harmed, but rather they’re in collusion with other gun grabbing community organizers to try to harm a business they simply don’t like.
Mr. Cuomo, there’s many reasons for why so many businesses and so many families have left New York. You and your party should be ashamed of the damage done.
With these control-freaks, you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
And at some point the Trump justice department needs to step in and end this nonsense. This is little different than what Lois Lerner and the IRS did.
This seems like a scam anyway. Why is it everytime I join an organization or association I am inundated with crappy offers for life insurance, credit cards and car rentals?
Shake-down
As usual, the Left demands regulatory requirements imposed upon RKBA, and then subverts implementation of those requirements. Actually requiring “defensive shooting insurance” may not be law yet, but now that the NRA is offering it NY of course has to respond by tearing it apart - after which they will then demand it be offered, and complain that NRA doesn’t & won’t offer it.
Akin to requiring training classes for CCW permits in major cities, and then the overpriced classes are offered at untenable times with irrelevant requirements - discouraging all but the most ardent from complying.
Pre-emptive compliance drives legislators nuts, replacing intentions of prohibitory regulation with “we already do that and like it”. (On a similar note, methinks semi-auto manufacturers should deliver rifles with bump-stocks installed.)
