White House attacks legacies of both Bush presidents after reports that they refused to vote [Trump]

The White House on Saturday disparaged the legacies of the only two living Republican presidents to precede Donald Trump, after reports that both men castigated Trump in interviews last year and refused to vote for him.

Former president George H.W. Bush mocked then-candidate Trump as a “blowhard” and voted for a Democratic president, while the younger Bush worried aloud that Trump would destroy the idea of a Republican president in all but name, according to “The Last Republicans,” which is scheduled to go on sale later this month.

The White House responded after quotes from the book were published on Saturday, entering an extraordinary war of words involving three presidents from the same party.

“If one Presidential candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two presidents really had,” the White House wrote to CNN. It called the younger Bush's decision to wage war on Iraq “one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes in American history.”

Thank you RoosterRedux!.

No, I'm still enjoying the winning, but I am sure tired of the loser Republicans in Congress, particularly the leadership.

All is well with me, and I sincerely hope all is well with you also.

It was unsettling to me too. All it did was reveal what a fool he was.

Reagan loved people. He’d never wish a bad thing for anyone, unless they had broken the laws of our nation.

Reagan signed a bill that allowed 3.5 million illegal aliens, to become citizens, when they should have been deported.

How do you get more “kinder or gentler” than that?

Dole wouldn’t have been terribly different from GHW Bush, unfortunately. California Governor George Deukmejian would’ve been better, but Reagan should’ve chosen NV Sen. Paul Laxalt as his running mate in 1980.

The Bushes are in a bad place. The left hates them because they’re GOP and ... Bushes. The right hates them because they aren’t conservative. They’re in a Megyn Kelly-esque Twilight Zone — hated by everyone.

Good.

I think the “storm” after the “calm” is about to embroil the Bushes...hence, their ire at Trump.

And now GHWB is being outed as a fanny grabber and groper.

The truth always comes out eventually.

All George Senior had to do was not raise taxes and he could have beaten Clinton.

Dumbass couldn’t even do that. What did he THINK was going to happen?

“How DARE he, Barbara! Why, Trump is not a Yale man!”

Dubya was a Yale man like McCain was an Academy man. Neither would have been admitted, or been graduated, were it not for their daddies. (McCain literally flunked out but was passed anyway, Bush at least got Cs)

Not one word of criticism or otherwise during Obama from 43. Why wait till now? Jerk. And I want him to hear me say it.
I’d like to know a reliable way to make sure 43 will get my message,
41 looks senile and pretty out of it but we all know what a globalist he is.

Beats anything I’ve ever seen. I may be living in a bygone era, but I never expected to see some things like this reported. You just don’t do that. I thought everyone knew.

Exactly. I have often wondered why Reagan picked Bush as his VP. Was there some kind of agreement they had? I don’t get it.
By the way, since I am in southern Mindanao, and just got out of bed, it’s Monday morning here. I heard there was a massacre in Texas. I am wondering if anyone has a thread for it?

There may have been an agreement from Reagan, thinking it would bring party unity.

I would have preferred he pick someone with views like his own.

It’s easy for us to use hindsight now and see he could have won without Bush (at least I think that’s obvious).

At the time, it may not have been.

Thanks bro. I will look at it now. I am sure you have some idea of who I suspect first, until we know more about it. It’s 7:30 Monday morning here.
