Mercedes has a very nice muscle car out....would love to be able to afford one so I could go around wasting the power/performance but be smug "in the knowledge"....

^5 and still haven't grown up enough to have to wait for a second childhood. Started with a '69 Firebird that was built to 540 ponies back then...almost didn't survive it but never outgrew the desire for power - even as I "settled" for less capable machines.

I think Perelli P-zeros are rated up to 200 MPH.

218.

I own a set, they handle corners like nothing I've ever seen on a road car.

Not a racing "slick." Good on rain and snow as well. In fact, I originally bought them as winter tires.

I've been a speed demon since I was born, almost.

Shouldn’t it read:

“...Capable of going from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, before switching over from gas to battery...” /s

You drive your p zeros in the snow? Really?

My concern is about the environmental damage of the high asbestos content in the tires, not the speed rating. What could Musk be thinking? Ohhh the humanity.

I went to Belle tire, here in Michigan, when I moved back to be close to my family for health reasons. We looked at all the options, except for price, for Winter tires. I wanted the best, hang the price.

Turns out, my P zeros also work very well in rain, and as you might expect are great on corners. So, this Spring, I just left them on.

I live in the world of 80 MPH freeway travel; limit is 75, but lots of us just set the cruise control on 80 and go! When I come off the Interstate, I found that I didn't have to slow down, unless the turn was sharp. So, being addicted to speed, as always, I enjoy freaking people out! It's all I have left. My eyes are sharp, my reflexes still outstanding. So I have fun!

So, how many 1/4 mile runs can you do before the battery goes dead?

Asked that several times before, the electric car fanboyz never answer. Gee, why is that?

From what I can tell, P zero's are summer performance tires. If you wait until the roads are plowed and ice free, no problem driving with them. Summer performance tires suck big time even if you have AWD in the winter.

I’ve never seen anything on how many all-out quarters it can make on one charge.

SWAG guess, not many without hours of battery cool down time. Musk &Co once played with refrigerating the battery before the run and still, they were at the limit.

Starting with the new 200Kw/hr battery...the ‘old’ Ludicrous tesla was a claimed 762 HP and 2.28 sec 0-60...
May need to double the HP to trim the time by a third???

746 watts/ HP...

My guess, one great run and a long wait for the battery to cool down, then check google for the nearest charging. station.

Lake Tahoe in a blizzard with chains on the tires?

Well, it is all-wheel drive.
And you can sleep with warm electric heat, no worries about carbon monoxide.

Old news from last week.

More fun to read about pie in the sky from Mr. Musk.
He has to do much pumping and dumping to keep Solar City afloat.

You're close. Let me explain: I wouldn't choose them for heavy duty snow rallying (I've actually done that, successfully).

In my lifestyle, I only go out in cold, light snow conditions; for a variety of reasons. I'm old, and wouldn't want some idiot hitting me and forcing me to endure standing around waiting for a tow or worse in the Winter. Two, cold itself is a factor and they are good for that. Three, they are run-flats, which I like. And lastly, I don't have to drive at all, since I'm retired, so if it's questionable conditions, I just turn up the heat and stay home!

That can be filled in three minutes.

“A typical charging station, which is supposed to replace gas stations, would have to be able to produce enough electricity in a day to power 21,000 homes!”

Not that I disagree, but I thought it was an interesting question.

Average gas station 4,000 gal/day sold.

https://www.consultingcase101.com/how-many-gallons-of-gasoline-a-gas-station-sells-per-day/

Gasoline gallon equivalent 33.40 kilowatt-hours
the average household, monthly electricity bill will read 911 kilowatt hours (kWh) Call it 1000 for KISS.

4,000 gal/day * 33.40= 133600 kWh equivalent each day.

1000kwh / 30= 33.3 kWh/Day used by avg home.

133600 / 33= 4012 homes/day equivalent kWh supplied.

This made my brain hurt, so pls check the numbers.

Telsa...under 2 seconds...downhill? If Telsa ever made a SUV that seats 7, tows 4000 pounds and go about 1000 miles on a charge, I’ll look at it.

The Suburban we had was the best car I ever owned!
Drove it up the Alcan to Alaska and everywhere else.
The Ford Expedition, don’t get me started on that Triton engine with the weird spark plugs, thumbs down.

The Prius we now drive is doing well and may someday outrank the beloved Sub.

Requirements subject to change.

How fast is it when the batteries are dead?

Roughly as fast as an IC out of gas
