There have been other such stories, where stores fire employees who subdue shoplifters. Why would they be fired?

Yes I know they violated the corp. policy, but if corp. policy is not to interfere with shoplifters, you and I pay the price, in the form of higher prices for everything we honest people pay for.

The question would be why is the corp. policy to let shoplifters do anything without interruption??

Walmart has a policy that employees are supposed to ignore shoplifters. If someone is carrying out a big 52” tv, he’s free to do so and no one is supposed to stop him.

Thank you for shopping Walmart. Come again, soon.

I knew a kid who worked at Dicks sporting goods.

He told me they were trained not to interfere with shoplifters in any way. Report it to the manager, and have them call police.

He witnessed twice a group of thugs simply picking up the latest sneakers, and walking out.

I think its a new form of welfare.

true story:
I saw a woman shop lift from a Wal-Mart in south Florida. Middle aged black woman took some stuff from a checkout lane, walked through, and began to head for the door. She also had some cleaning supplies—like a broom and some other items.

I said, loudly to the people working—HEY! She is walking out! She didn’t pay! She looked back, scared, but continued to walk.

The employees didn’t do anything. I looked at them as she walked out the door...

Afterwards, an employee kind of shrugged and said, “We can’t do anything about it, sometimes they just get away.”

I couldn’t believe it if I had not see it with my own eyes.

It’s dangerous to shop at Walmart
They allow criminals to operate freely in their stores. Pass the word.

Loser the other day in my neck of the woods doused some bank teller with gasoline, walked out with a duffel bag full of cash.

This makes sense. I mean, we are prosecuting police officers for “exessive force” — what will happen to Walmart if their employee attacks a guest? Even if the guest is proven to be a shoplifter?

Walmart can watch a million dollars walk out the door, and come out ahead of the 1 10-million dollar wrongful injury suit they might lose.

If I was an employee and saw a guest actually physically threatening someone, I’d risk my job. Not for some TV set, when the company told me not to.

I work as a halloween haunt monster at a theme park (it’s a fun gig), and we are told not to touch guests even if they attack us (self-defense isn’t punished, but you don’t chase or go on the attack or retaliate). I just learned that even most of the security guards can’t touch guests, only the ones that have been through special police training.

I work part time for this company and we do not tackle, or try to stop a person from theft...we have ‘radios’ and ask that the cameras be turned on where we are having a problem...when the police arrive, it is their duty to go after the criminal, not ours...

A lot of people do not agree with this policy, but I’m not going to do the job differently than I am instructed to do...it’s on film, the police see it, they take care of it...some say this increases the price of products, and I can agree with this, but my life is a lot more important to me than a 60 inch t.v. that some idiot decides to walk out with...
