I knew a kid who worked at Dicks sporting goods.
He told me they were trained not to interfere with shoplifters in any way. Report it to the manager, and have them call police.
He witnessed twice a group of thugs simply picking up the latest sneakers, and walking out.

I wonder if white shoplifters get the same level of apathy from Walmart and Dick's. I doubt it.
