Where is that tiny violin?
Oh noes!! Now Ill have to continue to watch a sport I really dont give a Shiite about on TV (when nothing else is on and the world is ending).
Gee, who would ever think the Washington Post would frame it this way?/s
Americans don’t want to watch men run around in short pants kicking a ball.
Wait until they analyze how many soccer jerseys, and how much beer, they can sell in Morocco. It is coming to North America, despite the fact that Canadian soccer has gone from weak to practically non-existent...
Who would even travel to Morocco?
I’d rather the US host the Cricket World Series before anything soccer. (And the Cricket World Series doesn’t exist yet.)
I remember the good old days when soccer wasn’t considered a sport here.
No loss.
Excellent! We don’t want to help soccer by popularizing it in the worlds largest consumer market. That would make those soccer nerds around the world rich.
Instead, we should give them a sharp scalpel and a suture kit to safely remove their nose from their ugly faces.
I never gave in to that sentiment, and stuck to American exceptionalism vs Globalist hegemony. However, with a few changes...
....maybe we could be swayed and soccer would be more popular.
Boo hoo hoo.
I can’t possibly care no less.
Trump’s Fault!!!
Gee, the Washington Post is so . . . so . . . I can’t even think of how to describe it. I do hate I, though.
Anyway, the WC will be coming here and it will be a success, financially, by fan support and general interest. Like someone said above, T-shirts, jerseys, etc., will be flying off the racks. Plus, the US team will, as hosts, not have to worry about getting eliminated by Trinidad & Tobago!
Have fun in Morocco. Send us a postcard.
You mean my complete indifference to soccer is jeopardizing ‘North America’s’ chance at hosting some soccer game? Hmmm, waddya know?
Oh, goodness. Now I will probably lie awake at night, trying to figure out why the USA has reduced in popularity and mourning. (NOT!!)
I would love to see a few matches with another countries best teams, which is something I don't get to see very often, if at all.
my only caveat would be no new venues built on the taxpayers dime...
Uh does anyone care? Pretty dumb to not want to encourage soccer in the worlds richest nation.
Remember when Obama went to the Olympic committee and got the games for Chicago? Oh yeah, he failed in that. I could not care less about the Olympics.
And we should consider this a loss? The less we have to do with the rest of the world, the less obligated we are. Our time is better spent revitalizing our country.
