Of course, I kid!!

It’s just I used to always answer ‘Lethal Weapon’ to the question - now, somebody has gotten so much mileage with ‘Die Hard’ as the answer..

Team Mel Forever!

1. Elf
2. Die Hard
3. Santa Claus (1959)
4. Santa's Slay
5. Surviving Christmas
6. Saving Christmas

3 was awful, only to be saved by the MST3K version.

Lethal Weapon is a good flick.

Santa Claus conquers the Martians.

I actually saw that in the theater when it first came out.

Gawd I’m old...

I despise Elf. The movie is poorly written, poorly acted, and poorly directed. And it's also beloved my millions. This explains why it's #1 over movies like Santa's Slay and Santa Claus (1959); it's inescapable. Why some people love Elf is beyond me. The silly one-liners are delivered with the usual ham-handed intensity that Will Ferrell calls acting. The sight gags and pratfalls are the sort that fourteen-year-old boys dream up. And to add insult to injury, Ed Asner plays Santa Claus. The most unjovial man in the world playing Santa Claus is too much to forgive. Besides, the final scene is what would happen if the worst producers at Hallmark had a bigger budget.

All true. But if you get in early enough, you can create a Christmas tradition. "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" was awful, but it's part of the canon now.

And if an actor's a big enough idiot -- like Will Ferrell is -- people will respond. Part of the appeal is laughing at just how much of an moron Will or the character he hides behind is.

And there's a very steep slope between good and bad Christmas movies. You can get a queasy feeling watching some that aren't as bad as Elf -- Jingle All the Way, Deck the Halls, Bad Santa, Fred Claus, Surviving Christmas.

Die Hard wasn’t about Christmas - the story happened around Christmas.

How dare he put “Die Hard” on the list as the 2nd worst Christmas movie of all time!

And he put “It’s A Wonderful Life” on the other list as the 2nd *best* Christmas movie ever.

I think he accidentally switched the second place movies on the two lists. “It’s A Wonderful Life” is phenomenally bad, and no doubt designed to create a whole generation of insufferable narcissists.

On the other hand, we just might sit down for a family viewing of “Die Hard” on Christmas day.

My favorite MST3K episode ever. A Christmas must see every year.

If I take three Will Ferrell movies two are awful & one is reasonably funny. A great comedic movie I can watch & watch, for example Will Ferrell’s “Talladega Nights” once was enough. It was funny once.

Maybe...but a young Zooey DeSchanel goes a long way in making it watchable.

Wow. That may be the most egregious misreading of a movie I have ever heard of.

One of my go to films on VHS back in the (no cable service) day.
That and ‘Patton’ - which has a Christamstime scene as well now that I think of it.

I found that stupid Star Wars movie when looking up Jefferson Airplane/Starship stuff. The group plays a song in the movie. (Stupid? Their guitars turn into light sabers!)

I’m guessing it would make this person’s worst list - but one of our family favorites is “A Wish for Wings That Work” - with Opus the penguin as the star of the show. Funny AND heartwarming!
