It’s the “8” in the number that convinced them their results are accurate.

Err...why will we enter a “slow rotation period”????

Do Newton’s laws of motion not apply anymore? What changed?

This is where science is today...state a problem you can’t prove will happen and state that “more research is needed”. We shouldn’t provide public funding for any “research” that can’t be proven. It’s the same with climate “science”. Until we have a 2nd earth rotating around our Sun where we get to dabble with the characteristics of the atmosphere to see what happens, you can’t prove anything. You’re just left with “computer models” that crunch numbers through theoretical formulas. Of which there are many “models” that don’t agree and none of them forecast (or back-cast) well.

The concept of “climate science” is about as solid as “social science”.

...when the planet will enter in to slow rotation period...

Does this mean daylight savings time will autocorrect and we won't have to change the clocks?

If the earth’s rotation is slowing down, do I need to get a slower watch, or should I just get used to being an hour early everywhere I go?

This won’t happen, and this prediction will be forgotten, until it is resurrected for another try in a year or two.

I’m still trying to figure out how and why the Earth’s rotation is supposed to slow.

Probably just a coincidence(?)

Past periods of slow rotation over the last 100 years have coincided with more earthquakes than average...

"The numbers of earthquakes that have occurred each year in the past century are well known. The changes in Earth's rotation rate are also well known," ....

On average, there were about 15 major earthquakes per year since 1900. However, during certain periods, the planet sees between 25 and 35 earthquakes greater than magnitude 7 in a year... those periods coincided with times when the Earth spins more slowly.....

Because NASA tracks the length of the day to the microsecond, these slowdowns in Earth's spin can be predicted five years in advance...

So far, this year has been quiet, seismically.

The strongest quakes were a 5.0 in the middle of the Indian Ocean, and a 5.2 in middle of the far south Pacific.

And I'll bet Roger Bilham...predicted sub-freezing weather in NE Oklahoma...right now too....huh?

So let's play his totally nonscientific game....

I predict a earthquake that takes down all of Detroit, MI...

And I predict a tidal wave to take out San Francisco, CA....

You know....lot's of people can play this game....!!

Join in!!
