Penzey’s “Soul Box” to Fight Racism with Chicken and Ribs Spices
Right Wisconsin ^ | 1-15-18 | James Widgerston

Posted on 01/15/2018 6:26:30 AM PST by Diana in Wisconsin

Just in time for Martin Luther King Day, Bill Penzey is calling every Trump voter a racist. To combat that racism, Penzeys Spices is giving away a free “mini Soul Box” – normally $14.95 plus shipping and handling – for just a shipping charge of $3.95. The box contains some cinnamon, some Cajun Seasoning and, yes, a rub for chicken and pork called “33rd and Galena.”

“Just the right gift for anyone on your list working to keep the goodness of the American soul alive,” Penzeys Spices’ online catalog claims.

If the small box of spices isn’t enough for you, Penzeys also sells a full American Heart and Soul Box that contains the Galena Street Rib and Chicken Rub. Both of the Soul spice boxes comes with a special Soul Pin so you can let everyone know you’re not a racist.

We can’t wait to see what Penzey gives away on Jackie Robinson’s birthday. But despite the culturally insensitive promotion of a free chicken rub on Martin Luther King day, it’s Republicans that are the racists, according to Penzey.

“This time, voting for the Republican’s openly racist candidate was itself an act of racism,” Penzey wrote in a Facebook post. “This time there’s no excuse.”

Penzey added that conservatives who don’t want to be seen as being a racist should just admit that their vote for Trump was a racist act. “Voting for racism is racism,” Penzey wrote. “If you don’t want to be publicly seen as a racist, don’t vote for it.”

Perhaps someone should have said to Penzey that if he didn’t want to look racist, he shouldn’t be giving away a rub for chicken and pork ribs on Martin Luther King day.

This will surely end “racism” once and for all.

You know, I’m betting he believes that!

I'm so irredeemably racist that I can't figure out whether I (as a racist) am now compelled or forbidden to buy it at this reduced price, or whether I should inform my non-racist Hillary-voting friends that they are the ones now compelled (or perhaps forbidden) to buy it.

Plenty of places to buy spices without resorting to some virtue-signalling company. Try any Indian or Mexican market. And much cheaper, too.

I went to one his stores in Houston TX several years ago, i.e. Obama era so his derangement had not found full flower yet. While I enjoy the spices, I’ll not buy from there again. Even better, I now have a local outlet for spices in my small suburb. Keeping the business local is important, IMO.

I don’t know the politics of McCormick spices & herbs but it has really expanded over the years to include many exotic spices. They are sold in every supermarket across the fruited plain. I tend to buy at my local Indian market where it is sold in bulk and at very cheapo prices.

Worse... they send a coupon for a free watermelon with the spices.

Pendery’s is fantastic. If you’re ever in Fort Worth, visit their shop in the hospital district downtown. You can spend hours there.

Curious? Do you think this gimmick is costing them money or making them money?

For ex., if I subscribe to their catalog, then they are losing money on me because I am never going to pay good Deplorable money for their likely over-priced spices...I am costing them money.

Would all Deplorables ordering this box for 3.95 be a drain on their budget?

This has been going on for a number of years. I find it hard to believe his idiocy is NOT impacting sales. They’re big Planned Parenthood advocates, as well.

They’ve basically drunk the Socialist Kool Aid and spout a lot of leftist talking points and follow their marching orders. They have become a cartoon.

Also Tastefully Simple. I used to spend a LOT of money over 20 years at Penney’s . Loved them. Stopped cold turkey after he sent emails to all his customers after the election calling them racists. Haven’t bought so much as a grain of salt from him since!

I don't know McCormick's politics either, and my spice/herb shelf is full of their products right now. The stores where I shop sometimes carry organic McCormick's, and I buy those when I can find them. There are no Indian or ethnic markets within reasonable driving distance of where I live, but that's a great option for people who do have them nearby.

Their comments section would be so easy to troll, if you’re in to that kind of thing. Feign a leftie persona and attack him for cultural appropriation or insensitivity to stereotypes or whatever.

I've never been to Texas, but I'll sure keep that in mind if I'm ever down that way!

Chinese markets and Mexican markets also have wonderful spices/herbs. Mexican markets have a variety of hot peppers as well, dried and fresh.
