FULL TITLE: Woman who gave birth to the nation’s first septuplets dies at the age of 63 after living with mental illness brought on by fame and mounting medical bills

A California woman who gained notoriety in the 1980s for giving birth to the nation's first septuplets has died, her eldest son Joseph Frustaci said.

Patricia Frustaci made headlines in May 1985 when she welcomed seven children - four boys and three girls - at a San Diego hospital. The babies' arrival was said to be the largest multiple birth in the United States at that time.

The former English teacher died on February 10, Joseph said, at a San Diego hospital from complications with pulmonary fibrosis. She was 63.

Joseph, who was four when his seven brothers and sisters were born, told the Mercury News that he thinks the fame his mother received from giving birth to the septuplets took a toll on her.

RIP. Of course but can something that happened 33 years ago affect her death?

Sounds like she had mental problems before the babies. After four of them died, she sued the clinic but went back to fertility drugs and had twins.

I don’t think stress can cause pulmonary fibrosis. This story just exemplifies the type of stories the British news media always promotes. It is a ‘you should love our NHS. Look at what happened to this woman who was charged for health care.’ My British relatives (the younger ones anyway) LOVE their NHS. They say ‘I am happy to pay for everybody else through my paycheck as long as everyone gets health care’. But they are still young and haven’t experienced how the NHS cares for the elderly. And they are healthy, so haven’t had to use the NHS for anything worrisome.

I knew her husband Sam from childhood and met Patricia several times. She was very nice person as I remember. I was so surprised when I heard of their divorce as they were at one time so dedicated to each other. Prayers up for Patricia and her family.

I figure this was hard on her body and the stress was great.

Am glad she had the kids she wanted but seems she paid a big price.

In fact would seem both parents paid an enormous price.
