Comments disabled (vanity)

I enjoy reading the comments posted at many US News Papers web sites.

This past week I have noticed, at many, those options are not available.

Is this because the Lib News Controllers are fearing a loss of control of the narrative ?

Could be. Could also be cost factors too.

If they get a lot of negative comments from the right, they shut them off.................

The comments aren’t going their way so they shut them down.

I think it’s more that liberals turned the comments sections into dumpster fires.

It may just be that they don’t like you.

“liberals” absolutely want to suppress ideas they don’t approve of. They put people in jail, fire them, and riot at their speeches. They control all the social media. They control comments. They block comments whenever normal people write things the left doesn’t like.
There is no free speech in this country.

Yes, because the content of the comments reflects badly on the paper.
I had to crush the local liberal newspaper columnist after he was virtue-signaling over a racist letter to the editor in his newspaper. I responded to him “You chose to print it. It was in your paper. You have to accept much of the blame for it. It’s like repeating a racist joke”.

Funny how independent thinking opinion censorship is accelerating ALL across the Internet (mainstream media, google, facebook, reddit, twitter, etc purging alt-news / topis that deviate from official establishment narratives.
Somethings coming..

What I’m finding more common is that only certain comments are deleted.

This is better for libs because it creates the false perception of open dialogue, but only the most poorly written and extreme opposing views are left intact. All well-reasoned counters to their narrative are deleted.

Great example of this is the lib auto site Jalopnik. They outright trash Trump in their articles, and any intelligent counter points are deleted from the comments.

They just want to stay news organizations, not chat rooms.

The facts that the leftist writers and editors take great pains to leave out of their “reporting” are often found in the comments. So they are shutting the comment sections down to prevent challenges to the narratives they wish to create.

Personally, I tend to rarely visit news sites without comments because a) that is where the “rest of the story” is, b) I like to get an idea of what locals think and c) people are often damned funny and I like a laugh.

It is because the dual problem of horrible trolling on the pages and the associated moderation needed.

The first makes the process unreadable, the second makes it expensive.

Personally I would like articles, that have no comment section, posted in their entirety and labeled as having no comment section so we can avoid clicking on the link and adding to their traffic.

Yahoo and the LAT Slimes comments are always overrun with rightwing comments. They slowly tried to disable comments. It happened with the Sun Sentinel in FL, after many years of conservative hilarious comments...
