I thought he was great in “Wall Street”, had the best line in the movie....
“Man looks in the abyss, there’s nothing staring back at him. At that moment, man finds his character. And that is what keeps him out of the abyss.”
“Mark Twain Tonight” - brilliant!!!!
The movie sucked. Some loser dies in an old school bus because he thought he could just trapse off to ALASKA and “camp” without any knowledge or training or skills or common sense.
The gene pool is better off.
This Discovery Channel Documentary from 1996 helped spark my interest in Battleships growing up. Which of lead to History being my main subject :)
It is wonderfully narrated by Hal Holbrook ~ Battleship part 1 of 12
I think he was in Bridge on the River Kwai. The lone American and he killed it with his performance as the skirt-chasing, fraud Navy officer.
I was in high school when Evening Shade was running on CBS. What an amazing cast. Holbrook was one of the best parts of the show.
His performance in Creepshow was also Oscar worthy.

My favorite Hal Holbrook moment came when Dirty Harry blew him up in “Magnum Force”.
He blowed up good.
Blowed up real good.
