When US movie audiences first laid eyes Omar Sharif, he was a shimmering apparition, galloping out of a desert mirage on the back of a camel toward Peter O'Toole in the 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia.
The Egyptian actor's journey would take him to leading roles in such films as Doctor Zhivago, Funny Girl and The Night of the Generals. Google celebrated the iconic actor's birthday on Tuesday with a dashingly handsome animated doodle.

Always remember him from his roles in David Lean's epics. His personal life was a mess. He ended up taking roles for a paycheck. He played Crown Prince Rudolf in the B level epic "Mayerling" also starring the stunning Catherine Deneuve and James Mason and Eva Gardner playing his parents Emperor Franz-Josef and the Empress Sissi.

I heard he had an affair with Barbra Streisand during the filming of Funny Girl. What the heck was he thinking?
Sad to think he was born into a Christian family, but converted to Islam to marry Faten Hamama (and possibly for professional reasons).

I heard he had an affair with Barbra Streisand during the filming of Funny Girl. What the heck was he thinking? Maybe it was an experiment. He wanted to see if she smoked after sex?

I read his book “The Eternal Man”. He was a heartthrob and yes he talked about Streisand. Saw him peddling it on The Mike Douglas Show. One of the other guests blurted out ‘you’re a male chauvinist’ to much applause. Then it got quiet. Everyone wanted to hear his response. “Everyone is for women’s lib but why must you march and carry signs?” was his response-allinnocence. They could dish out the criticizism and still offer to let him leave his shoes under their beds at anytime. Women. Made me want to read it 40 years later.

Don't forget to include the adnauseum plugin. It messes with Google's revenue.
It currently states that I have hit over 70,000 ads online this week. Of course, I didn't and Goolag will have to refund the money.

In “Top Secret!” agent Hillary Flamande bends over Sharif trapped in the crunched car. When he sees her cleavage, the radio antenna extends.
The intro “Skeet Surfing” was a real hoot.

Top Secret! A very underrated comedy from the guys who brought us Airplane! I don't seem to meet too many people who have watched it.
