Always remember him from his roles in David Lean's epics. His personal life was a mess. He ended up taking roles for a paycheck. He played Crown Prince Rudolf in the B level epic "Mayerling" also starring the stunning Catherine Deneuve and James Mason and Eva Gardner playing his parents Emperor Franz-Josef and the Empress Sissi.

Sad to think he was born into a Christian family, but converted to Islam to marry Faten Hamama (and possibly for professional reasons).

Just another “Google Doodle” for my kids to say: “Who is that?” They have already figured out, without me telling them, that Google celebrates ephemeral pop-culture icons and has no interest in things that matter — like Christianity. My oldest daughter asked me why Google did nothing for Easter. That was an interesting conversation.
