The War Between Russia and Ukraine is More Devastating than You Know
The Washington Post ^ | Apr 9, 2018 | C. Buckley, R. Clem, J. Fox, E. Herron

The fighting in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region is entering its fifth year. More than 10,000 people have been killed in this persistent conflict; 2,800 were civilians. Nearly two million people have been internally displaced or put at risk if they remain in their homes.

Yes, at first it was a skirmish between Ukrainian security forces and local separatist militias, bolstered by Russian mercenaries. But by late 2014, the fighting involved large numbers of troops including Russian army regulars, outfitted with armor and artillery.

Today, the Donbas war is among the worst humanitarian crises in the world, with frequent attacks occurring from both sides across the oblasts (provinces) of Donetsk and Luhansk. Before the war, this compact, heavily urbanized and industrialized region held nearly 15 percent of Ukraine’s population (6.6 million) and generated 16 percent of its gross domestic product.

Now it’s a war zone.

And our research has documented that, as its hospitals and medical facilities are destroyed — perhaps even targeted — its citizens are being deprived of basic health-care services, echoing Syria’s similar if larger crisis.

The Russian were brutal enough under Stalin. Don’t think they forgot as Russia knows that’s under THEIR sphere of influence. It’s probably like misses in Cuba. But then Cuba was never starved into submission. Is Ukraine worth it as Poland might be?

Those fighting in Donbas are fighting for their freedom from the George Soros Ukraine which we installed via that Coup. They aren't attacking Ukraine, Ukraine is attacking them.

Agreed - The Ukrainan Putschists are wackos with bizarre national socialist ideas fully supported by Hillary.

Trump would be wise to distance himself from these losers.

Mall burns down, kills children, toxic dump outside of Moscow, Oligarchs control the country, but the potty mouth putinistas are calling other places bad and that they had a coup to belong to Mother Russia, too funny.

So now, the Neocons stretch their originally faulty logic and “Putin Shaming” to include those who think the US has no interests in Ukraine?

You are exposing yourself as deliberately ignorant, and driven by emotion.

Certainly not driven by the American National Interest. Something you appear to be blind to.

Yeah, and the press was saying that Trump wanted to abandon Ukraine... but he didn’t and lethal weapons are going to Ukraine under Trump, he’s proven the naysayers wrong.

If you and other putinistas don’t like Trump, too bad.

Biden’s son, wow, people sure can find a needle in a haystack but say jack about the corruption in Russia, rated 142nd for freedom of the press among 180 nations,

But then you jokers expect us to believe Coup lies, now, Putin cries uncle that he’s going to let the US hit Syria and admitting to Assad’s poisonous weapons.

Enjoy spreading what ever you want to about a country ranked 142 among 180 nations for freedom of the press, the putinistas lines are just jokes, if they are not more than 3 years old.

Look asshole, you are accusing me of supporting Putin, when in fact you cannot cite a single instance of it.

You’re just a liar. A simple liar at that.

10,000 over 5 years is actually a pretty low death toll. Mexico’s narco wars are killing more, on a per capita basis. Colombia’s murder is higher. http://time.com/5111972/mexico-murder-rate-record-2017/ https://theconversation.com/colombias-murder-rate-is-at-an-all-time-low-but-its-activists-keep-getting-killed-91602 The main reason there has been little NATO involvement is because Putin has generally kept this low-key, probably by giving very few resources to the rebels and perhaps telling them not to advance beyond their current lines. And that has kept casualties extremely low on both sides.

Some reports too now, are saying ASSAD IS GONE! In exile, in Iran, we will see. It sounds plausible.
