Had a neighbor with a Gremlin back when, and later on another had an Aztek.
The rumor:
Aztek had two design teams, one for the front, one for the back.
Neither spoke to the other.
And nobody was actually designing an SUV, they were designing a compact sedan.
So, they inflated the proportions.
The result was a vehicle that had tiny wheels holding up what resembled a rolling fart.
Take another look at the Aztek... it was just ahead of its time. Now, it looks quite normal.
