Righties shouldn’t be suckers for Kanye’s latest act
NY Post ^ | 4/30/2018 | Karol Makowicz

Conservatives have long wanted to separate entertainment from politics, but suddenly they seem more willing to accept the intersection now that entertainers are showing them some love. They shouldn’t be such easy marks.

Kanye West nearly broke Twitter last week. It started with him tweeting out that he loves “the way Candace Owens thinks” and spiraled from there. His appreciaton for Owens, an African-American conservative activist, was the start of a multi-day tweetstorm that would include praise of President Trump and a photo of West in a “Make America Great Again” hat.

Liberals were apoplectic, and conservatives enjoyed every minute of it. Comedian Kumail Nanjiani tweeted that it was “the worst twitter day in twitter history,” with comedian Billy Eichner responding, “nightmare.”

Conservatives, starving for representation in mainstream culture, embraced West immediately. It was glorious watching liberal heads explode because one celebrity dared to say something politically unconventional.

The reaction to the Kanye West tweets was reminiscent of the way conservatives are overly excited about the reboot of “Roseanne,” in which the main character Roseanne Conner, played by Roseanne Barr, is a Trump voter. Little about the show is actually conservative yet the existence of a character who isn’t a liberal is thrilling.

But conservatives shouldn’t be so thirsty.

Part of the danger is that the unpredictable West can reverse himself at any moment. Democrats found this out the hard way for themselves. In August of 2015, the Democratic Party’s official Twitter account gleefully declared, “Last night @kanyewest declared his candidacy for president in 2020. Welcome to the race, Mr. West. Glad to have you,” after he ranted onstage that he’s running for president. Whoops.

Comedian.

They keep using that word. I do not think it means what they think it means.

Conservatives, starving for representation in mainstream culture..

Typical leftard has no idea how 'mainstream' conservatism really is. They'll find out again in 2020.

I pay little to no attention to celebrities. But it has always been my impression that Kanye is and was a rapper. And part of the thug culture that celebrities embrace.

So now he’s making friendly overtures towards Trump?

Whatever.

If in fact he is making liberals apoplectic, then good. But that does not make one a conservative.

Act or not, if it resonates with even a fraction of that voting block it is a #Win

OK, I’ll countersignal on this one.

I have no interest in Kanye West. I abhor the “Democrats are the real racists” nonsense. And I think the GOP, or whatever comes after its upcoming implosion, should absolutely, positively not try to attract “minorities” to vote for it.

However.

The greatest existing threats to America are President Trump being removed, or not being re-elected.

His removal, or his defeat in 2020, are at the root SOCIAL phenomena. People like us, who are interested in issues, are a tiny minority of the ocean of voters who have no clue about what is happening, or why.

Because of this, the phalanx that has formed in the infotainment complex to destroy the President is a problem. Morons who watch daytime TV, or who know who Khloe is, and so on, are going to determine our fate.

That’s a bad, bad, idea - but that’s our situation.

Having even one (and there may be more coming) celebrity who people follow on Instagram GIVING PERMISSION to normies to think well of President Trump may very well turn the tide.

I'm onboard the Kanye train!

Like TRUMP says "What do you have to lose?"

What we can gain is maybe an extra 5% of The Black vote

The left is the side that marginalizes and destroys people. The right, in general, recognizes people are flawed and debate them on their opinions and positions.

I do not trust Kanye West. He is just another entertainer to me. But what he is currently saying is a prime example of something that desperately needs to be said.

Steve Colbert and John Stewart, the celebrated "comedians" of our day, often make me angry but have never made me laugh.

It’s not about Kanye. It’s about the lefts’ expectations/control of minorities and what happens when one of them goes of the “ reservation”.

The takeaway from the Kanye story is not whether Kanye has “seen the light”. It’s the fact that it reveals that independent thought is not tolerated by the left. I don’t care what Kanye thinks about anything. He does not impact my life in any way. But his treatment at the hands of his fellow entertainers/leftists shows that they treat “deserters” the way the American Communist Party did when someone tried to leave the party.

I agree, but I also don’t think that is happening.

Like North Korea, we conservatives are being very cautious regarding these POSSIBLE positive developments.

I’ll take whatever defections from the Left, particularly by minorities. If he returns to the Democrats, so be it. It is a precedent that some minority Democrats are thinking independently. The Left fears that most of all.

Steve Colbert and John Stewart, the celebrated “comedians” of our day, often make me angry but have never made me laugh.

They NEVER make me laugh, the list is long

Conan
Samantha Bee(needs baseball bat applied)

so many others, I never watch anymore!

I remember long ago maybe in my 30s when I would look forward to watching a good comedian.

SEINFElD is playing in the catskills(New York)

Now there should be a joke about this just right there!!

(thinking of taking my husband to see.....)

If Kanye, for all of his flaws, and they are legion, can give the “go” signal for a cultural shift, then I welcome him with open arms.

He is in a position to do enormous good for the black community by knocking the Poverty Pimps off of their lofty perches.

Let’s see what he does with Making Chicago Great Again. I’m willing to wager that Kanye will do more good for Chicago than Obama and Rahm combined.

And the really good news is that if just 5% of black voters turn against dems, dems become a permanent minority.

I didn’t like him or the Kardashians before, nor do I like them now, HOWEVER, it takes a ton of guts to step off the Plantation nowadays, no matter the reason.
Besides, no matter his intentions, the reaction from the Left are doing more damage to their image than we ever could and it is ENFORCING the notion that they have become completely unhinged and intolerant.
