“No, ma’am, they do not. Especially when it is based on blasphemous lies. That’s open worship of sin, period. It’s not Christian and they have no right whatsoever to call themselves that. Worse, they lie to their parishioners by giving them false hopes and assurances that their sinful lifestyles will have no bearing on their salvation and that this grievous and injurious behavior is something to be celebrated.

God spoke loud and clear on the subject.”

Are you for real? When did you hear God speak? what exactly did He say? Spare me your high horse. While I think the gay lifestyle is difficult for them and I don’t get it, that doesn’t mean it is not real love. And this God thing, where is He? I see so much awful stuff God does not lift a finger to alleviate that I have lost all hope of Him being “a loving God” and at this point see him as simply a Creator who abandoned his creations.

Like when we were kids and something awful happened [from our perspective] and our parents didn’t drop everything to come fix it when we demanded it, so we would grumble and say Mom and Dad don’t understand us and don’t really love us.... we could be out in the shed playing with Dad’s tools and strike a thumb with a hammer and no matter how hard we yelped the folk would just look up from the paper and then go on reading. Once it dawned on us no one lost a finger and it felt stupid to keep crying, we’d go back to the tools a little wiser and more careful.
Or the time your brother pushed you in the creek when you hadn’t yet learned to swim and the folks just chewed him out … while ignoring you as you … learned to swim. When the snit fit was over being “ignored” was soon forgotten because whole new places to explore were opened to you when the creek was no longer a barrier. Eventually you realize the folks were watching the entire time, just in case, and would have come to the rescue so we wouldn’t be overcome. They just couldn’t show it at the time or we’d never have learned.

People are upset about that, and not about the fag flag displayed prominently in the front of the church?

A little bit of sweet butt facing the church hurts their delicate sensibilities? Would they rather have what the fag flag symbolizes?

That’s why I’m against much of the Muslim faith. It believes it’s their way or the highway.

Hmmmm, that's a pretty good description of a United Methodist service I attended.

I spent time after reading this thread thinking back over the gay friends of my life. My criteria for being around people is that they are “good” in my definition, not in someone else’s. Goodness, to me, has to do with love of neighbor and kindness to others, and behaving as you would want others to behave to you. What I like about Christianity are that those virtues are embedded in it. I see churches as trying to teach people to be the best that they can be. I also believe that we’re deeply affected by the people with whom we come in contact. So I can’t be around people whose traits I don’t want rubbing off on me. Only people who would help me be better.

With all those caveats, I look at the small number of gays that I’ve cared about (they try to exaggerate their numbers for political purposes) and I see uniformly good people. Since I’ve pre-selected for kindness toward others and a passion for life, I’m not saying gays are better than straights. I’m just saying that they’re as individual as straights. And there’s the same percentage of passionate churchgoers among them as among straights. They’re active volunteers and people who reach out to help those they see struggling. Yes, many of them would like the government to do the helping, sigh, but these are the ones in the trenches not of political activism, but of helping the unfortunate.

I was allowed to free think from the time I was eight years old. I take the incredible diversity of opinion of people as a strength, so I wouldn’t change a single opinion of another person to mine unless their opinions moved out of their world into mine. I don’t have friends who do that. I don’t consider that a “good” characteristic that would help me be a better person.

I can’t understand being gay. I haven’t the faintest idea if it’s nurture or nature. I can’t even go the place where women prefer other women to men. Personally, that just elicits a massive YUCK. I’ve been married to a man I respect for 48 years and consider myself purely lucky. But the gays I know are as steady in their relationships as the straights I know. No better. No worse. And I only know the ones who are good and kind and live lives that I deeply respect.

I’d hope that support for gays comes only from people knowing good gay people and not from Gay Pride marches of the strange and scary part of their society. I have to assume that that banner outside the church means they’re proselytizing Gay Pride. I’d stay away from that as fast as I’d stay away from proselytizing Christians or Muslims. But I’ll support the BELIEFS of all of those people within their own lives and ignore ALL of the proselytizing.

Perhaps they are insulted because it’s a woman’s backside.

They’d probably be okay if it a guy in a tighty whities.

oh BS, that is not how it works, kids get beat to death by their own parents, molested by priests and God doesn’t lift a finger to help.

It is obvious. And it doesn’t help that it’s gigantic so anyone is automatically looking up her skirt. Never mind that it’s blown up.

Would you want your daughter shown like that?

Honestly! I cannot believe the indecency on FR, never mind at large. We wonder why our society is not very civil and good and moral anymore.

Hmm.. the “church” has a fag flag outside, but they’re upset about a statue of the absolutely stunning Marilyn with her magnificent rear end showing.

That “church” must be worried that the men in the congregation will start being attracted to women again, after seeing her statue.

The freak show is definitely in full swing.

The problem with most gays is that they have chosen their sin to be their identifier. If you want to be a Christian, then choose Jesus Christ as your identity——not your sin. Humble yourself so that Christ can work with you and through you. The Christian church should not be a place for people to hide their sins or justify their sins, but a place for people to confront their sins and be saved from them.

Marilyn Monroe committed suicide? Not everyone believes that.

Didn’t Bobby Kennedy or maybe Peter Lawford visit her the night she died along with a physician? Many believe they were involved in her demise.

I'm so glad they replaced the old Lucy statue in Jamestown, NY with a new one.

Officially, the ruling on Marilyn was a suicide yet there are those who believe the Kennedys or the Mob had her killed because she was having an affair with Bobby (and Jack) and threatened to publicize everything because Bobby was dumping her.

Back in the early 1960s, infidelity by American politicians was considered unforgivable (”How can you trust them with America’s secrets if they can’t even be faithful to their wives?”) Marilyn had a diary that vanished before the police were allowed to examine the crime scene.

She was not in stable mental health so she could have been a) murdered b) pushed into committing suicide or c) committed suicide accidentally from an overdose of pills and alcohol. Any of these *might* have happened but we’ll probably never know.

Have you ever read the Bible? God’s word is abundantly clear that homosexuality is an “abomination” in God’s eyes. Homosexual people can be saved if they acknowledge their sin and repent of it. My interpretation is that if you continue live in that lifestyle and celebrate it that their eternity will be extremely bleak

“Everyone deserves their own right to their religious beliefs...” may be correct to liberals and those who are not paying attention to God, but it is incorrect in the eyes of God. When one chooses religious beliefs that do not recognize Jesus as Savior, and God as our only supreme being, one is choosing eternal death and a life in hell instead of eternal life and a life in heaven.

God gives us the freedom to choose. Most choose poorly, although all have the opportunity to choose wisely.

The rainbow flag on a church is blasphemy, and not pleasing to God. It celebrates unnatural relations and sin, which is not of God. It opposes God.

I recommend you read the Bible. Or, if it is too long, then simply read the New Testament. Open your mind and your heart to God’s influence in your life. Please.
