I’ve never understood the ID issue. I assume you need a government issued ID to use the welfare and medical systems.
Do people who lack ID to vote not use these services?
In the past week I’ve had to show ID for entering a government facility, transferring money, and at a pharmacy.
And,of course, air travel requires ID.
At one point, probably in 2015, I counted up the number of occasions where you had to display an ID card of some type, and got up to around 35 requirements. I would openly challenge anyone to go for 365 days without an ID card. You can’t do it unless you agree to live under a bridge and just hang out with losers.
I do agree, if you looked over the entire US...there might be 300,000 American citizens existing without some form of ID. But these are people who live on the fringe of society, or have a residence of some tent in Metro-Detroit.
You can't even get a library card without ID, for crying out loud.
