Dozens hurt as Ryanair flight loses cabin pressure

More than 30 Ryanair passengers, some bleeding from their ears, have received hospital treatment in Germany after their plane to Croatia lost cabin pressure, German police say.

Flight FR7312 from Dublin to Zadar made an emergency landing in Frankfurt.

The airline said oxygen masks were deployed and the crew carried out a "controlled descent".

The plane descended 8,000m (26,000ft) from 11,300m to 3,000m in seven minutes, according to Flight Radar.

Ryanair said the plane "landed normally and customers disembarked, where a small number received medical attention as a precaution".

The plane was carrying 189 passengers, 33 of whom were hospitalised, and some decided not to continue with their journey, German police said.

...

"We get on the plane, we're flying and next of all the oxygen mask comes down, we're left in darkness for 15 minutes, there's no reassurance just people shouting 'emergency, emergency'," Sarah McGarry told the newspaper.

"There was a newborn baby and children on the flight, people are screaming and we don't know what's going on for 15 minutes . . . Then finally we're told that we're going to Germany."

Another passenger told the newspaper: "It was really scary, there were three to four minutes (that felt like an hour) when the plane was falling fast and I thought we were done for".

What are the passengers complaining about. They got 100 cheeseburgers for the 189 passengers to fight over.

And it’s not like they dumped them off at a major airport where they would have to fight the crowds and might be able to get another flight. The Hahn airport is halfway between Frankfurt and Trier in the middle of nowhere. (Hahn has a population of 168 people).

Wonder who was the targeted passenger.

Ryannair probably charged 20 Euros for 10 minutes of oxygen.

Then finally we're told that we're going to Germany.

That's when I'd start screaming, not before.

I’ve come to the conclusion that flying airlines like Ryannair just isn’t worth it.

If I’m in Europe, I’d much rather take a train.

Hmmm, didn’t a Air China jet just plunge 10,000 feet due to a copilot’s vaping? Supposedly, like yesterday?

No coincidences. Check out QRS-11.

A couple of years ago we flew Norwegian non-stop from Boston to Guadalupe for $120 round trip. The plane was a bit cramped but it was only a four hour flight so it was good overall. My hunch is that a "real" airline would have charged twice that and made us change planes in Newark as well.
