TS- I’ll bet that BMW vs Vette was interesting. In My younger years (when I worked at a parts store and had access to a machine shop and could afford it) I Married into a ‘68 2002 that was a hodgepodge of 2002/1600 parts. Had the POS Solex 2bbl card that was replaced with a Weber, ported and polished the head and shaved a few mm to up the CR, lightened the rods and pistons, balanced the bottom end, Header and custom exhaust, Bilstien shocks, V Rated Metzler tyres. It was like driving a big Go Cart that was on Fly Paper even in the wet.
I kinda miss it but not the cost and maintenance parts.
