I believe people like this poor woman were called “useless eaters” by the National Socialists in Germany around the 1930s.
The country of the Netherlands is full of people whose recent ancestors came from other countries. As with some of the other countries in the region, many of the foreigners changed their surnames to blend in after arriving. Not many of the original Dutch people remaining there. The same is true of Norway, for example. Many of the original ethnic groups of those countries migrated to the U.S.A. over the past few hundred years.
The population density of the Netherlands is also very high.
