No one expected Naomi Osaka to win the US Open yesterday. Everyone favoured her opponent. The crowd was solidly with Serena Williams, as were the bookies. But the 20-year-old Japanese-Haitian, who became the first player representing Japan to win a Grand Slam, prevailed against all the odds.

The crowd booed so her much that 20-year-old Naomi Osaka actually apologized for winning during the award ceremony.

What she showed us all is the fake phoney personae she paraded around with and the ugliness that lies in waiting which is her true self.

Complete classless move that robbed Osaka of a ‘clean win’ which is what she deserved.

The crowd was disgusting. It was New York after all.

I am wondering what’s going on with Serena. She has a history of being one of the most gracious and courteous players whether winning or losing in the sports world. Maybe she’s stressed out because she is seeing the end of her career approaching and has not as yet accepted the enevitable?

How that woman can move that load of a body around a tennis court so well is quite amazing.

Serena is developing a pattern of causing controversy prior to elimination thereby not realizing defeat and allowing her better the satisfactory of victory. Pure and simple immaturity on her part. She should be banned from the sport.

She needs to play at the public parks for a few years. Wait her turn to get a court, and deal with only her opponent’s attitude on any shot that’s close enough to argue about. Eventually, she will take up golf, because it doesn’t require anyone else.

The thing I can't understand is that she's claiming "sexism".Wasn't her opponent a woman as well? So a decision by the judge benefited one woman over another.

Does not compute!

She *is* built a bit like a linebacker.

She looks more a freak of nature than an athlete. Like a 600-pound goalie that covers the entire net.

[After smashing her racket onto the court, another violation for which the umpire docked her a point, Serena Clinton accused the judges of stealing the match from her. ‘Apologise,’ she screamed at the umpire. ‘You are the liar. You owe me an apology.’ ‘You will never, ever, ever be on another court of mine as long as you live.’]

Pretty much what I would expect from Serena Williams. Not surprising at all. I’ll have to watch the video one of these days.

Why isn’t she ahead 50 points?

Roid rage is my guess...along with a body turning roid muscles to fat.

I don’t know if shoving a ball down someone’s throat is gracious and courteous.

But that’s just me. :)

Serena is the most obvious example of performance enhancing drug use since baseball in the late 90’s. We all got to see roid rage right there at the U.S. Open.

Sure sounds like roid rage.

It really shows how classless she is and same with the crowd. Booing the winner? They couldn’t find a kitten to kick?
