Feeding knowledge directly into your brain, just like in sci-fi classic The Matrix, could soon take as much effort as falling asleep, scientists believe. Researchers claim to have developed a simulator which can feed information directly into a persons brain and teach them new skills in a shorter amount of time, comparing it to life imitating art.
They believe it could be the first steps in developing advanced software that will make Matrix-style instant learning a reality. In the neo-noir sci-fi classic, protagonist Neo is able to learn kung fu in seconds after the martial art is uploaded straight to his brain.

Maybe you can upload knowledge, but wisdom is a different thing entirely.
Given the political slant of our tech companies I suspect it’ll be used to turn people into compliant little socialist drones.
My Uncle reads the Newspaper by sitting on it
I’ve got a bad feeling about this.....
Yeah; I thought of that too. Could easily be a double edged sword. They could do it subliminally along with some other thing the person is downloading.
The quick easy way sounds too good to be true; probably because it is. I think I’ll stick with downloading the old fashioned way - by reading.
Interesting. If this is further developed, we’ll need to know A. How long the learned data stays accessible to the subject?
B. Is there muscle memory along with intellectual knowledge?
C. What if you do not agree with the data you’ve been given, can this new data be overridden or removed at the choosing of the subject?
D. How easy will it be for such data uploads to be hacked, and substituted with misinformation?
Time will tell, if this experiment becomes truly viable.
______________
Read a good book.
Memories don’t control “how” a person thinks. I don’t think this can be used to “reprogram” people, but who knows? And there will always be hackers creating viruses....
On a serious note, has any used Spritz?
It’s been available for a while and it really looks very cool.
It’s basically an electronic speed reading program.
What I know about speed reading is that the technique increases focus and greatly improves comprehension, nevermind that you can rip through hundreds of pages in no time.
“Maybe you can upload knowledge, but wisdom is a different thing entirely.”
Totally agree with you.
I’ve been studying memory for 30 years and have studied and worked with top neuroscientists specializing on this subject.
I asked Eric Kandell, the scientist at Columbia University who received the Nobel Prize for his research on the biochemistry of memory storage “Where are stored memories located?” And he replied “in the synapses of the brain.”
Your stored memories are no more located in the brain than the music you hear from a radio is stored in the radio.
This research article is merely about increasing focus or attention, a function of the thalamus that does the input priority sort.
I’ll ask Johnny Mnemonic about this.
I don’t know, the skull of the average leftist is a foot thick and made up of solid granite, how do you get through that?
They’ll use it to upload fake news.
Microwaves to get at that scrambled egg inside?
The beginning of actual socialist programming.
....Either cure it or burn it to your Brain! The possibility of learning with the ease of the matrix movie is exciting but has to have some serious dangers.
