Rape charges dismissed against 4 California dentists

LAS VEGAS - Charges were dropped in court Monday against four dentists who were accused of rape against a woman at a Las Vegas hotel in July, KSNV reported.
Ali Badkoobehi and brothers Poria Edalat, Saman Edalat and Sina Edalat had been charged with sex assault, conspiracy to commit sex assault and first-degree kidnapping, the television station reported. However, prosecutors dropped charges during a hearing that lasted about 30 seconds Monday, the Las Vegas Journal-Review reported.
“After review of the facts of the case, it was clear that the allegations were completely fabricated,” lawyers for the men wrote in a prepared statement before a court appearance. “The evidence confirmed the men’s innocence, and the state has cleared them of all charges.”
None of the dentists appeared at the hearing, the Journal-Review reported.
The unnamed woman alleged that the four men raped her repeatedly in a room on July 28 after she met one of the men at a bar at the Wynn Hotel, KSNV reported.

Yes, just read a similar article on Fox at
https://www.foxnews.com/us/dentists-accused-in-las-vegas-resort-rape-case-have-charges-against-them-dropped. A rather timely note from these four doctors: "At this sensitive moment in our history, we believe that women should be respected and heard and believed. But as this case shows, it is also important to keep a critical eye on those willing to use the (#MeToo) movement for their own selfish motives and remember that innocent until proven guilty is one of our country's bedrock principles."
What is completely missing is any discussion about whether the woman has or is going to be charged. She should be!
Further, how much did this cost them? How do they get that money back? Despite the cleared allegations, how do they get their reputations back? And, for Vegas, how do they say it is safe to visit, gamble, and party?

Not life, but for the same sentence the men would have received if convicted. But it won’t happen. Except in rare cases, a woman who makes a false accusation just gets to walk away. That really (redacted) me off because the men’s lives are ruined and it makes it much harder to get justice for real rape victims.

While I agree with the sentiments on punishing fake accusations, punishing a woman who recants her charges would tend to make women refuse to admit their lies thus innocent men may rot away in prison.
The reason why kidnapping is no longer a death sentence. Why leave a live witness when the punishment is the same for a dead one.
