DEVILS LAKE, N.D. A police officer was reportedly refused service because of his uniform. That is according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, where over the weekend a trooper went to the KFC/Taco Bell on Highway 2 in Devils Lake on his lunch break.
He claims the employee refused to take the order, telling the trooper he was just there to harass them because they arrested them in the past.
Highway Patrol says the trooper just transferred to the Devils Lake region from another part of the state. It's still unclear if the trooper arrested the employee in the past, who does have a lengthy criminal record.
A manager then got involved to take control of the situation.
Highway Patrol tells Forum News Service while the trooper and manager were talking the employee called 911 to report the trooper was there to harass them.
However, the employee said not to send any police officers to the restaurant because they would just harass them too.
The manager eventually gave the trooper his food.
A lieutenant with the highway patrol says this is extremely rare, especially here in North Dakota. He said from time to time people may buy them food to thank them for their service.
It's still unknown if the trooper plans to file a complaint with either corporation.
Forum News Service called the KFC/Taco Bell in Devils Lake half a dozen times during the evening of Monday, Oct. 8. The phone just rang.
Calls to corporate offices for both KFC and Taco Bell were not returned.

WTH is Taco Bell doing hiring employees with a “lengthy criminal record”?!
“The manager eventually gave the trooper his food”
Yeah, by that time I think I would just say pass on the food.
I couldn’t get the article to open but I would hope the manager fired this employee on the spot.
...story mention employee’s name?
Somebody has to hire them. All government jobs seem to be taken.
And also, if not for a lengthy criminal record the employee probably wouldn’t HAVE TO work a job like that.
North Dakotan here. I know exactly where that KFT/TB is. They’ve always had low-life staffing issues. There’s a DQ 3-4 blocks away with nice burgers and some eye-candy college age girls behind the counter. Win-win.
The employee was guilt-ridden to the point of paranoia. He’s now exposed himself as somebody who’s done a lot of crimes. Did he manager know?
The LEOs need to start filing civil rights claims against the employees and their employers for discrimination.
Hit the anti-cop losers in the pocketbooks and they might clean up their acts a bit.
By the way, what do FReepers think the ACLU would have to say about this situation?
Whole article was posted on the thread. No mention of the employees name or any disciplinary action. FWIW the service at the taco bells’ around where I live is pretty much the same as a lot of peoples experience at mcdonalds......rude with a side of attitude.
Yep, dats da one.
I admit I like kfc, except for their nasty instant potatoes (before the Colonel gave it up, they used real, fresh potatoes), but here’s a fun fact a relative who used to work there, gave me: when they make their in-store, huge vat of coleslaw, they put FIVE POUNDS of sugar in it! (But don’t tell anybody; it’s a trade secret). Now, how about some nice healthy coleslaw!
Moral of the story......LEOs need to get in the habit of eating at chic-fil-A. Not that they should have to.
His first mistake was going to KFC/Taco Bell. He should have gone to the nearest convenience store, bought a bottle of coke and a pack of peanuts. Opened the coke and took a swallow, opened the peanuts and poured them into the coke, shook it up a little and munched on them until he could have gotten some decent food. OTOH, Chick-fil-A would have been happy to have served him.
I worked at a Col Sanders back in the day for a summer job. Seems like I never got rid of the chicken grease or chicken smell that summer.
If I was a cop I would never go to any kind of restaurant in uniform. Too many crazies
