Voting Experience [Vanity]

Just an account of my voting experience this morning.

Arrived 10 minutes before polls opened and there were 50-60 people in line ahead of me. appeared to be a conservative bunch; no one was wearing blatant blue, although I was as a basic tone of my wardrobe.

Polling place is a black church, but seemingly a conservative one. Election judge on hand was a man of Hispanic origin with a noticeable accent, so I'm sure that English wasn't his primary language.

I noticed several people who didn't appear on the rolls and had some arguments with the election workers.

We have fill-in-blocks paper ballots, along with a computer if you choose. The ballot reader by the exit wasn't working properly - wasn't accepting the ballots. We had to deposit the ballots in a slot at the side of the scanner box, to be scanned later. I found the judge and got his verbal assurance that they would be counted, and that he would be at the polling place until the conclusion of the election, mitigating any loss of exchange of information in any personnel transition. I'm still a little leary. I don't put anything past dem corruption in this election.

At least it is paper. In my county they would be counted but others...I would wonder.

You could call the clerk’s office and say something just to let them know you are concerned.

If the judge sets bail at less than $1,000, we MIGHT be able to get enough FReepers to bail you out.

Seems to be reports of a lot of polling places not being ready. How in the hell does that happen?

Tarrant County is one of the counties under scrutiny by the AG’s office, the GOOD kind of scrutiny, since we’ve had overt attempts at election fraud.

I may indeed call.

I know the judge, it wouldn’t be high, probably ‘Personal Recognizance’.

The voting precinct is at the church I volunteer at and there is a long line, normally the poll workers are bored to death.

We voted the “Right” way. Heavy turnout at our polling station (over 700 had already voted BEFORE 9:30AM, which is huge), lots of older ADULTS and report from someone/polling station 12 miles away = heaviest turnout for a mid-term election they have ever had. Also, another huge factor: “PROOF OF RESIDENCY” IS NOW REQUIRED THROUGHOUT New Hampshire and they were checking the I’D of EVERYONE seeking to vote, the POLICE WERE PRESENT! = No more bussing people in from Massachusetts, or out of state students fraudulently screwing up the election results.

Reporting from Deeply Blue Northern Virginia. Went to two precincts (went to the wrong one first). First was absolutely empty. The other had only one other voter (clad head-to-toe in a burka). I noticed my ballot was the 97th cast, about three hours in to the election, during what I expected to be the worst time of the day, about 8:15. I would have expected a couple of thousand.

Here in Texas they scanned my Driver’s License and it wasn’t coming up, so they had to manually enter my name for it to come up on their system.

Normally, such things would annoy me, but I was actually glad this time they were so thorough.

I did notice looking down the voter roll page containing my name that a lot of people had early voted, a LOT more than I usually see.

New machines this year. You vote electronically then print the ballot. You check your votes both on the computer and the printed ballot. You then feed the ballot back into the machine and push the complete button.
