Yeh, looks to me that the RAV4 May have been the cause of the grass fire directly in front of the cruiser. Btw, anyone know the make/model of the cruiser? In Texas most of our LEOs now drive Tahoes. 140 mph is impressive for a Tahoe.
Nope it wasnt the Toyota it was the CAT on the FHP Unit on the dry grass. That CAT was probably high mileage and due for replacement. They clog up when the Honeycomb inside the CAT starts to melt and blocks the exhaust superheating during the high speed chase. The hot gases cant get out of the system and the vehicle will slow down due to back pressure reverse choking the engine. I have seen a few get red hot while up on the lift at the shop.
If He had pulled the Unit back on the pavement while backing up the Unit would have been saved and FD could have put the grass out when they got there.
Did anybody else see the Left Front tyre Pop when it burned through ?
