Urban Meyer gave Buckeyes fans a heck of a ride. If the details of his tenure and departure had been spelled out in advance, Buckeye nation would have gladly signed up.
A national championship, an undefeated season, and 7 wins vs. Michigan.
Thank you Urban Meyer, may you fare well in whatever you decide to do next.
I think this is it for Meyer. He don’t want a repeat of the health issues late in his stint at Florida.
Why the vitriol? He is one of the great college football coaches of all time. He is ill and showing good judgment by not advancing his career at the expense of health and family. There is no evidence at all that this is tied in any way to events of this summer. All of his actions here are to be commended.
I get it that folks have a beef with Meyer and hate Ohio State. Leave the Meyer criticisms, please, to another time and place. And as for Ohio State, the entire Big 10 and Pac12 will opt out of the college football status quo within the next several years, likely going back to the Rose Bowl deal that preceded this. The SEC/ACC/Big12 can have that four-team playoff explicitly all to themselves rather than just de facto. This will be to nearly everyone’s advantage. And the one most likely damaged party, the NCAA, badly needs a smack down and not just in football.

Why did he go to Ohio State if that was his reason for leaving Florida? Something always stunk about that to me. If his health was that important, why go to another job with about the same stress level and performance expectations? He could have easily went to a lower division 1 school or even a D-2.

Does it matter that Zach Smiths wife, the alleged victim went out of her way to not make domestic abuse reports to the police? She told her parents, who were skeptical, she told Meyers wife and asked for confidentiality. So what was Urban Meyer supposed to do, expose an unproven and still unproven claim, then be sued for revealing information that the victim wanted kept confidential.
How about the recent claim from a player who transferred blaming Zach Smith for calling him a stupid “ni&&er. It was completely refuted and found to be a lie.......claim was Urban Meyer “knew or SHOULD have known”. Teamares who saw the altercation called it a lie and never happened.
Both of these were exposed by Brett McMurphy, a wannabe sports writer.
Meyer is likely still young enough to get another college coaching gig, but I think it’s time he does something else entirely. Joining ESPN, FOX Sports or CBS Sports full-time as an analyst may happen.
This is what I think the future holds for Urban.
Meyer's wife is an RN @tOSU and therefore a mandatory reporter in regards to domestic abuse. She didn't report it to the university & I don't believe for a second that she didn't mention it to UM.

I doubt very much that Meyers wife examined her injuries on a professional basis, so there would not have been any such mandatory requirement. I don’t buy it either but, if the victim wanted it to take legal action it was her responsibility to call the police and file charges instead of blabbing it to everyone she could find to listen and expect them to either keep it confidential, as she requested, or go against her will and call authorities or the school. My opinion, this is a scorned woman looking for revenge.
Mandatory reporters aren't required to do a physical examination; the mere suggestion of abuse is enough to trigger the required response.
Ok, well in my opinion and I am a woman, a victim of true domestic abuse has multiple legal options available, instead she chose to make a “mere” suggestion to family and friends as her method of reporting. Certainly kept her from having to legally prove the allegation, right?

I just can’t find anything in Ohio Law that says a nurse must mandatorily report a statement, made by a friend to a friend who is a nurse, that she was a victim of domestic abuse. In fact, it is quite clear that it would have to be an “observed” injury. (I am sure you can see the legal ramifications of a report based solely on an emotional statement between friends). Additionally, the mandatory reporting law has been created to protect children, the elderly and those who are in a diminished capacity to protect themselves. But being a mandatory reporter, you certainly must know more about the legal statutes, so I will defer to you.
ORC Ann. 2921.22 makes it a misdemeanor in the second degree for a physician, limited practitioner, nurse, or other person giving aid to a sick or injured person, to negligently fail to report to law enforce- ment authorities any treated or observed gunshot wound, stab wound, or other serious physical harm that the reporter knows or has reasonable cause to believe resulted from an offense of violence. Second and third degree burns, burns to upper respiratory tract or any burn or that may result in death must be reported to the local arson, fire and explosion investigation bureau. Known or suspected domestic violence must be noted by the physician in the patient’s records.
Come on, Mashood. You should know by now, it’s the seriousness of the charge, not evidence, that matters when it comes to liberals and the ‘pound me too (#metoo)’ game.
