Democrats denied it was a tax until Roberts called it a tax, then they embraced it as a tax until a court said the tax was no longer constitutional since the basis for the tax was eliminated.

Now we have a tax with no underlying justification, and the Democrats want the tax to continue anyway, because... Trump.

The appeal and then 'using their new power in congress to hold Republicans responsible / expose their lies' .... these 2 things have absolutely nothing to do with each other. It's like the raving of a lunatic. Even IF the judge's decision were legally wrong, which it isn't, the statement against it has zero logic.

You were just told it is UNconstitutional. Every other law that was struck down ceased being enforced immediately: homosexual marriages come to mind. Effers were lined up next day in front of magistrates...

So again: WHY?

I remember the whole argument in the beginning about the individual mandate being that it HAD TO stay because it funded Obamacare and there was no severability clause. The thought was that if it was struck down by the SCOTUS Obamacare was no longer constitutional. So Roberts caved and called the mandate a tax.

And here we are again, this time with the mandate gone, starting in January. This means that the question is back on the table. And with no severability clause, and the mandate gone, this judge made the only decision he could.

And this brings up another point: January is when Obamacare begins trying to survive without the mandate. It means we’ve not really seen the impact of that decision yet, but it will be there in spades in less than a month. I checked with the government site a year ago just to see if I was eligible for the 8% exemption, and I was. But now they are spamming that email address, trying to get me to sign up for next year. It’s comical.

Obamacare will be a HUGE story next year as the funding completely (for all intents and purposes) collapses. We are in a car with a computer that says we have 20 miles left before we run out of gas, which will get us through December, and there are no stations for 300 miles. This will be THE story of 2019.

Because that ruling came from the Supreme Court and not a District Court like this ruling. It will be appealed and until then the decision will be stayed.
