Sorry Oprah, it’s just a movie.
If it was ‘White Panther’ would she still say the same?................
Oprah is bigger than a lot of things.
Oh, that’s the movie where even with a ton of high-tech advantages, elite blacks with a hidden worker class still dress in animal skins and bark at each other.
They love to mutilate their bodies too. Nothing more black than elaborate, expensive tattoos and piercings.
That’s what the movie taught me.
Meh. I would place it in the top 10 list of recent comic book movies, but not anywhere near the top of the list.
But since the Academy Awards only go to politically correct movies these days, I suppose it is better that they give one this year to a movie that people have actually paid money to go to a theater and watch.
Any time a black person is up for an Oscar, you can be sure Oprah is leading the charge to lobby for the win. It’s not about the art, it’s about the optics. Period.
I watched it at CinemaSins on Youtube ,https://www.youtube.com/user/CinemaSins/videos ,LOL
Oh, a BIGGER movie. My bad...
Yeah, well, there are a lot of stupid people out there.
As for Black Panther, it's just another stupid comic book movie. Period.
Really? I thought it was mediocre at best. Yes, worth watching, but not worth raving about over the water cooler.
Then again I’m a superhero movie buff. Probably due to being an avid comic book reader as a kid.
I don’t look to Oprah to tell me what movies to see.
Maybe her TV fans or Bookclub fans still do.
Oprah is a very successful businesswoman and an entertainer.
She does what’s going to make her more money or increase her influence. I guarantee you, Oprah is benefiting financially or strategically from this endorsement. Nothing wrong with that at all.
Oh noes. She said a word that rhymes with a word wyepeepo cant say.
As a cinematic milestone, it stands ahead of most Spiderman movies, but way behind Tim Burton's Batman or Ironman, for example.
Again, it was a comic book movie.
Can someone explain to me the popularity of and how anyone could ever listen to this New Age cow?
**Oprah Winfrey, whose credibility and following enables her to mobilize the masses.**
NONSENSE.
It wasn’t that good of a movie.
In that case, she should spend her $$$, buy a nice little country somewhere in the old continent, name it whatcando, and make their dreams come true. And invite all her friends to go with her.
I skipped Black Panther. I thought the character was boring when Marvel started the comic book decades ago. In fact, I’m pretty much done with comic book movies at this point.
AA’s were hoodwinked by hollywood into thinking BP was some sort of cultural event... but it wasn’t.
It was a movie, an okay movie, not a great movie...
The Academy Awards stopped being about recognizing great movies a long time ago and basically is just lets give awards to movies that advocate the right political cause at the moment...
Period.
In any case, did a little digging and found this below, apparently from a site that favors the film...
The image on the right is from the film, the other is of the founder of the 1960s revolutionary communist terrorist group. This alone, to me, appears to prove a definitely connection, despite the article title claiming just the opposite, that the two things are not related.
As Marvel Studios Black Panther continues to smash through box office records, a perennial complaint about the characters origin has reemerged.
But no, the character wasn't named after the revolutionary socialist and black empowerment-focused Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, which was founded by Bobby Seale and Huey Newton (pictured above) in October 1966.
Article title: "No, Black Panther Was Not Named After the Black Panther Party"
