PASO ROBLES, Calif. (KCRA) — A man who escaped from a Bay Area prison was arrested Saturday at a Taco Bell in Paso Robles, officials said.

Shalom Mendoza, 21, walked away from San Quentin State Prison on Wednesday night, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

"He was assigned to work outside the secured perimeter of the prison, as some inmates are, and he took advantage of an opportunity to leave," the corrections department said in a news release.

After he escaped, Mendoza carjacked a person and stole their Toyota RAV4, according to Justin Graham with the San Rafael Police Department. The stolen SUV was found abandoned off Highway 101 near Paso Robles on Friday.

Mendoza was serving a five-year sentence for using a deadly weapon during a carjacking or attempted carjacking and evading or attempting to evade a peace officer while driving recklessly, prison officials earlier said.

Wouldn't that make him an illegal, illegal alien?

I think he did. Chalupa Cravings Box can still be had for $5. Though the guy misunderstood me and gave me the wrong box the other night.

“The great city by prompt and sudden assault
Surprised at night, guards interrupted :
The guards and watches of Saint-Quentin
Slaughtered, guards and the portals broken.”

Nostradamus’s prediction of the prison break from San Quentin in 1971. Three corrections officers and two prisoners were killed. He mistook it for the city of Saint-Quentin, which has no gates.

Shalom Mendoza? Sounds like he’s riffing on a name like Juan Epstein from “Welcome Back Carter”.

“”he took advantage of an opportunity to leave””

Well, duh!!

He made quite a distance in a vehicle that was known and they couldn’t catch him before Paso Robles? From San Quentin to Paso Robles is 216 miles and a 4 hour drive. I’m sure he wasn’t driving the speed limit so should have been stopped long before getting that far..If Nancy had been in town he could have asked her for a police escort to Mexico - I’m sure she would have obliged him.

Grubhub would have been a better way for him to get his taco fix.

Shalom, I bow(s) to you.

1.In the slammer for carjacking,

2.get an ‘easy’ detail, policing the grounds outside the wall and walk away,

3. out for five minutes and you carjack. then go to lunch.

Like ‘they’ used to say about the Army... Most soldiers get more done by lunch than most civilians do all day.

If he’s going to Taco Bell, he needs some serious PROFESSIONAL help.
