Navy/Air Force Jets Over Suburban Boston

About fifteen minutes ago (12:50PM Eastern) I saw four Navy/Air Force fighter jets (F-18? F-22?) flying directly overhead in the western suburbs of Boston.Anyone have any idea if they might have been part of a military flyover for the Patriots game,which is happening about 30 miles from me?

I guess that's one possible explanation.However,I've read many times that the air shows that the Navy and Air Force hold on a regular basis are mainly meant for recruiting purposes.

A couple of years ago the Blue Angels appeared at an Air Force base about 80 miles from me...and I attended.When it was over I,a guy with a bum ticker and a metal hip,was ready to go down to the recruiter and declare "I wanna fly F-18s"!

Had a similar thing in Austin at 11am.
They flew past maybe 4 times. Never seen this before. Very odd.

I saw them twice...once directly overhead,the second time still easily visible.And they are loud...and were flying in some kind of formation when I saw them.The formation is what makes me wonder if it might have been related to the Patriots game.

I was on the top row of seats at Bristol when they went over on afterburner, that was pretty crazy!

A couple of years ago, several jets from Eglin flew over for a funeral of a WWII officer who flew B-17s and was originally buried in Germany.

They are staging in order to fly over Foxboro stadium as the last notes of the National anthem wrap up. They communicate with a spotter in the stadium in order to co-ordinate precisely the timing. Attend Broncos games at Mile High in Denver and this is always a crowd pleaser. Typically at the beginning of the 4th quarter the pilots and some of the support people are introduced at the stadium.
