A mother says she is furious over an incident involving her son at Hico High School this week. Amy Martin said a teacher cut her 16-year-olds hair without permission Tuesday at the direction of Principal Shelli Stegall. My son was taken to the special education building where a teacher chopped off his bangs, Martin said. They were cut straight across. It reminded me of Jim Carreys haircut in Dumb and Dumber. Martin said the school never asked permission to cut her sons hair, which it said was too long and violated the districts code of conduct. Her son Lane Kiesling is a high school junior..."He ran straight to his room and slammed the door when he got home, she said. I went to check on him and was shocked by what I saw. He was crying, then I started crying. Martin and her son admit that his hair had grown too long, but said she didnt have the money to get a haircut...My son has been traumatized. This is a lot for a kid to deal with. He wants to change schools.

OTOH, a HS Jr. crying, "traumatized" and wanting to change schools over this is a bit too much. He would have been a hero if he'd made a joke of it and had everyone laughing with him instead of supposedly at him. He'll be out of school in a bit over a year. Too bad mommy isn't raising him to be a responsible adult.
Hey, Mommy, don't pull that money excuse. It doesn't cost a dime to pull out a pair of scissors at home, be they blunt tipped kindergarten scissors or sewing scissors, and cut the young man's hair yourself. Bangs he could cut himself.
I’m surprised any school has a dress code relating to hair.
School dress codes are very lax nowadays anyway, compared to the old days. Remember when girls wore dresses to school? And boys weren’t allowed to have long hair?
I remember. :)
Regardless of the state of the kid’s hair or his Mother’s drama, this is going to be a very expensive haircut for the school. There will be a cash settlement and the teachers and officials involved will be lucky to get out of this with a transfer.
Wimp punk kid.
Go to a barbershop, moron.
Perpetually aggrieved...everyone is a victim...wheres the money???
Hes 16, so in a year he could join the military with parental consent, and in two years hel have to register with Selective Service. Could you imagine this young man, whos traumatized by a bad haircut, landing on Normandy or Iwo Jima? Hes genetically capable of being an actual man, so what has his mother and society done to this poor kid?
u know if there is a national emergency, and all these soy boys have to step up, we’re all screwed.
In our rural TX high school, the Ag teacher shaved the offenders head with sheep shears. It only happened once or twice at the beginning of the scool year, and everyone got the message.
I’m surprised they would cut his hair. Just in general, teachers and staff nowadays get in trouble, if they physically touch a student in any way. Surprising that in their judgement it was ok to cut his hair.
Just wait until our enemies find out so many of our young men are pajama/soy boys scared of their own shadow.
And yes, I know how to spell school.
Looks like theres enough stupid to go around on this one.
Still trying to understand what hair length has to do with conduct.
Dress codes, teaching about homosexuality, teaching about gender change, etc, is more important than teaching the basics which I guess is what I just wrote.
Son's name: Lane Kiesling
Is there really a family here??
In 1970 & 1971 the North Union Township High School principal would cut hair and shave those that were not following the rules.
When I went to high school a lifetime ago (I graduated 1971 from a catholic hs), if the principal thought a guys hair was too long he’d have them comb it straight down in front. It could not be below the eyebrows and must not touch the collar in back.
If they thought a girls skirt was too short they’d stop the girl and have her kneel down. If the skirt touched the floor it was ok. If it didn’t touch the floor the girl was in trouble. That said, before school and after school the girls would roll their skirt up at the waist turning the skirt into a mini-skirt.
When I was in high school the senior boys would shave the heads of freshmen boys, then you had to wear a beanie. Got it shave again when I went into the Army 4 years later. Shaved it again 12 years ago when one of my best friends was going through chemo. He was one of my coffee shop bud’s and all of us that sat at the table regularly shaved our heads. It’s just hair! Hell what he’s cultivating on his head grows wild on my arse and in my ear’s.
And mommy was crying too? Inter generational snowflakes. That said if a school touched my child they would have more of me than they could handle. But I guarantee I wouldnt cry about it. Sheesh
(Universal rule of hair growth:
Grows too fast with good cut & slower than Heinz Ketchup when cut too short)
Not being able to afford haircut is bs
Too poor or too lazy?
Ima goin’ with lazy
Used to trim my sons hair all the time
I still trim hubby's in between his trips to barber shop
