Dont call her a victimAdrianne Haslet is a survivor.
Haslet, who lost her left leg in the 2013 Boston Marathon finish line bombings, was recently hospitalized after a car struck her in a crosswalk in Boston on January 5. She was hit on her left sidethe same side as the bombing injuriesand tossed into the air, before flipping over and landing on her left shoulder and left side.
At first, she thought the accident left her paralyzed, but with the help of her surgeon and the same team that treated her when she lost her leg, she is regaining mobility. She credits her recovery to staying active and healthy.
Im not defined by what happened to me. I live life in a full way, and set and accomplish goals. This is a giant setback, she told Runners World. I am a survivor, defined by how I lived my life, not defined as being a victim.
Her injuries will prevent her from running this years Boston Marathon, which she had been training hard for. Its awful to go through something like this, to set a big goal, and to have that taken away is gutting, she said.
Haslet has been very open about her entire journey on social mediashowing both the good and bad. She said its always been important to her to be open and honest.
No one should have to cry alone or suffer alone, she said. If it makes them feel less alone, I try to be that person for someone who needs it. Its also an outlet to express myself when I cant dance and run.

Boy, I know this feeling. We suffered badly during the Nuns Fires but I cannot stand the label fire victim. we are grateful for all we have and for the experience (You learn a lot about yourself and the world in such a process.). How can you be victimized by a force of nature? Not a victim.
I took a bullet from a feral.
That made me a victim. Having
a victim attitude and being a
victim aren’t the same things.
I see nothing noble in denying reality.
But, whatever floats her personal boat.
There is no disputing her courage.
People there do not care what the crosswalk lights says, the color of the traffic light, the flow of oncoming traffic, nor your Texas plates.
When they want to cross, they go.
An excellent state of mind. More people should attempt to emulate it. A lot more.
*Noted.
“If ya drove like a Masshole, you’d be home already!”
“Use yah blinkah!”
NEVER run a GREEN light.
The older and larger vehicle has the right of way.
Never use your turn signals. This alerts Massholes of your next move and they will cut you off.
Double park anywhere you want.
