Two observations:

1) People DRESSED UP to go to the beach!

2) The crowds...EVERYBODY went to the beach!

Must have been nothing on TV that night.

It’d be a few years before FDR would be on the tube talking about the great depression.

I’m citing the great TV historian Joe Biden.

There weren’t many flappers in evidence,
but the ones that were, were the bee’s knees.

A city with millions of people jammed into close quarters... with no a/c and 90 degrees in the shade. The beach would sound good to me too.

A lot of orphans. I bet many were a result of the influenza and diptheria epidemics. My Mom lost a pair of twin sisters to the diptheria epidemic.

WWI + the so called Spanish Flu of 1918 created a lot of orphans.
