Lori Loughlin's Daughter Olivia Jade's Trademark Application Rejected Due to Poor Punctuation

Lori Loughlin's daughter had her own issues with trademarking her own beauty brand, because of poor punctuation.

According to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Olivia Jade attempted to have "Oliva Jade Beauty" and her name trademarked, however, she was rejected because of her vague language and grammar mistakes.

"The wording 'make up kits comprised of moisturizer, primer, concealer, foundation, make-up powder, make-up pencils, eye make-up, eyeshadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, highlighter, bronzer, make-up setting spray lipstick lip gloss, lip stains, make-up remover' in the amended identification of goods is indefinite and must be clarified because the nature of 'moisturizer' and 'concealer' must be further specified," read the documents obtained by ET on Wednesday.

The USPTO also added in the letter issued on March 15, that "in addition, applicant must correct the punctuation in the identification to clarify the individual items in the list of goods." "Proper punctuation in identifications is necessary to delineate explicitly each product or service within a list and to avoid ambiguity," the office further explained. "Commas, semicolons, and apostrophes are the only punctuation that should be used in an identification of goods and/or services." Olivia now has six months to amend the file or it will result in "the abandonment of the application."

Reminds me that a friend of mine was once looking over a job applicant’s resume and found a misspelled word. He threw it in the trash.

I don’t think any of this is because of a lack of intelligence. It’s because of intellectual laziness, which is ubiquitous in society these days. Learning, training your brain, etc., takes effort. Lot’s of effort, and it’s a lifetime commitment. If you don’t put that effort in, then you wind up not being able to punctuate properly, among a myriad of other things.

I was having brunch one day a few years ago, and overheard the conversation that was happening at the table next to me. It was the divorced mom of a girl my son went to school with. The mom was now dating this European guy who had some kind of investment business.

You could tell the mom was enamored with this guys ‘stature’ and greenbacks, but what he was saying to her daughter was unbelievable. She was talking about not liking math, and how difficult it was. He told her, ‘You don’t need to know much math. You just need to have money, and know what percentage return you’re getting on your investments.’

This may be along the lines of what this girl was hearing. In the end, it’s about being able to think, and not waste your brain.

Zippity Doo Dah Zippity day my oh my... Hit enter and send it off.

I took some adult college courses when I was finishing up a MBA and two or three of the proofs mentioned that it was so nice to have a class full of adults who could actually write. One of the things they always talked about was a complete lack of utter and punctuation in high school graduates.

Nowadays, my Punctuation is lacking primarily because most of the writing I do on blogs is voice texting from my phone, so I look them over for obvious errors and I even miss a number of those (due to some cataract issues that hopefully I will have corrected sometime in the next 12 months). Or, I forget to say a punctuation mark or two and don’t catch it before I send it off to the blog site.

Anyway... Maybe this young lady will learn the value of some education. At least grammar, and will take steps to educate herself in some way shape or form.

Sounds like stuff you use to prime and paint a house.

LOL. Just goes to show the FReeper Punctuation and Grammar Police are way ahead of the curve. We could moonlight reviewing trademark applications.

Dang it, back in my day we used punctuation properly and for its intended purpose: making pinup babe pictures from dot-matrix printers. Kids these days...

I love this parody that Weird Al did. I think his lyrics are even more creative than the source material.

Great joke I read on another site: This is the first teenager in history to be correct when she said her mom ruined her life.

She was making $30,000 each time she endorsed a product.
Mom and dad messed up and did not see what she was doing was a business. They probably thought of it as some internet thing.

WordPerfect had the grammar tool and it helped me do better in grammar.
