I checked with everyone in our house, no one knows about hidden network. Any ideas? I have a fair-sized linksys wifi with four or six of those aerials sticking up in back.
What does this mean? is there someone on my wifi? If so how?
I would appreciate some information here. Never saw this before.
Be sure you computer is turned on.
The whole world can see you on TV
How many routers do you have in your house?
Just one?
google wifi secured hidden network. A microsoft site will come up.
Does your Internet connection provide a wifi router? Some service providers (Comcast for example) will sell you the internet service, “provide” the router and then use that router to provide other wifi services that they then charge other customers.
If you have a laptop, you may want to consider paying $50 for Netspot (https://www.netspotapp.com/netspotpro.html) to help map out the different access points.
There are also apps for mobile devices that can help testing the strength of the signals. Stronger signal means you are closer to the source. You can create your own analysis / map to find the offending access point.
Newest router/wifi systems are potent enough to pick up a neighbor’s wifi. With overlap, the distance is the halfway point between systems.
Wireless networks generally have a name, called the SSID. The wireless network broadcasts the name continuously, allowing for easy identification. When a wireless network does not broadcast the SSID, your computer still detects the network but doesn’t know what it’s name is. Chances are your router or a neighbor’s router has a network set to not broadcast the SSID.
Nothing to worry about, at all
Have a vizio tv?
I really like what you’ve done with your living room:)
I hope you also got a warrantee and a phone number to call.
I would recommend calling that no., they would be the ones who know your computer and this wi-fi connection exactly.
Anyone else would be guessing, but they would and should know exactly for that particular computer.
Probably some “smart device” in your house. Do you have streaming devices like chromecast? If so, try unplugging them all until the hidden connection disappears.
Heck .. went to buy a replacement electric toothbrush at Costco and it was $100. I wondered why it was so expensive and it had wifi!
So
it could be your tooth brush...
Install the app “WiFi Analyzer” on your Android phone. It includes a power meter like with a ‘beep beep’ sound that you can walk around and point your phone. The closer to the WiFi source the faster the beeps.
Its pretty cool, sort of like walking around with a Star Trek tricorder. “Captain, I found it! Over here!”
Could it be your car?
I had one setup that was identified as Border Patrol Field Office. I like keeping the neighbors on their toes.
unplug your cable modem and see if it goes away.
Keep your WIFI on.
See what it says now.
You have a new computer? Does it have built in WiFi while your still using your dongle thingy out the USB?
Do have a WiFI extender in your house.
Wow, I need to get out today.
It’s probably your cat. They are more advanced than we know.
Can you give me a few minutes before you fix it?? I’m almost done downloading the 8-chan Q-Anon/Wikileaks smoking gun Trump Collusion Coup-de-Tate/Seth Richards, etc. info.
just a few more minutes...
Then I’ll make your hidden-network get resolved...
:-)
