Comodo IceDragon (based on Firefox) has also succumbed. They note an option to “find a replacement”, but I have not yet looked into that.

Why are you using Firefox anyway? After what Mozilla did to Brendan Eich, every conservative should have walked away.

Just got a notice on my add-ons page that they’ve issued a hotfix and it should be rolling out in the next few hours.

I’ve noticed a lot of ff addons quit working in the past year. I run Linux Mint and ff has never worked right for me. As of right now, duckduckgo is a blank white screen of death in ff so I’m switching to Brave. Palemoon and Vivaldi are good ones too.

For firefox, I’d been running uBlock Origin for an ad blocker and Yes Script to block popups and auto-play videos. Between the two of them, I wasn’t seeing a whole lot of crap I don’t want to see. Both are still working in ff currently.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/yesscript2/

Yes Script blocks javascript but it’s turned off by default and you turn it on per site for those sites where you get overwhwelmed by popups and auto-play videos. Almost a requirement for the UK news sites.

Brave has ad blocking built in.

I have given up on Firefox entirely. I originally got it years ago as the alternative to the totally obnoxious Explorer but it has become very unstable. I have had FF on a Linux machine and on a W̃ machine. Wife has it on W7348010. Every few minutes I was getting a FF crash or a tab crash. Sometimes It was seconds between crashes until I restarted the computer. Then it was back to half a dozen times an hour. I use Brave now. I like certain features of FF that other browsers don't have but the instability makes that moot.

To: Ouderkirk; All

It’s FIXED!!!

I got an email from Firefox very early this morning. They were well aware of the problem, and were working diligently to fix it. There was something wrong with the dates on certificates or some such (not a tech person).

In about 3 hours, the problem was fixed, and Firefox is back to normal.

So, to reiterate, Firefox is FIXED!!!

You may resume your normal, ad-free browsing.

That is all.

this worked on older versions

hat can I do if Firefox disables an installed add-on?

If an unsigned add-on is disabled, you won't be able to use it and the Add-ons manager will show a message that the add-on could not be verified for use in Firefox and has been disabled. You can remove the add-on from Firefox and then reinstall a signed version from the Mozilla Add-ons site if one is available.

If a signed version is not available, contact the add-on developer or vendor to see if they can offer an updated and signed version of that add-on. You can also ask them to get their add-on signed.

What are my options if I want to use an unsigned add-on? (advanced users)

Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR), Firefox Developer Edition and Nightly versions of Firefox will allow you to override the setting to enforce the extension signing requirement, by changing the preference xpinstall.signatures.required to false in the Firefox Configuration Editor (about:config page). To override the language pack signing requirement, you would set the preference extensions.langpacks.signatures.required to false. There are also special unbranded versions of Firefox that allow this override. See the MozillaWiki article, Add-ons/Extension Signing for more information.

I went to “Support,” and got this:

We rolled out a hotfix that re-enables affected add-ons. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours. For more details, please check out the update at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-ons-failing-install-firefox

Maybe that’ll help.

since Mozilla became SJW Inc.

Another thing Mozilla did was to integrate the "Pocket" extension and force it on all users. Pocket is just a shill for all the left-wing fake news sites: nyt, WaPo, atlantic, etc., etc.
