“Geese” — good point. You see them and other birds arriving from the south every year and wonder “Where are they coming from? What’s there?”

Look at any old map and you will see settlements dotting the rivers.

Think of the Nile, Amazon, Misissippi, Ohio, Great Lake tributaries.

The hill are for safety. The water is necessity.

So, how many sabertooth cats, short-faced bears, and dire wolves did the firearm-equipped Lewis & Clark have to contend with during their trip across a territory they were merely taking notes instead of having to just survive?

Imo, they were most probably coast hopping.

Moving by sea and landing when they needed to and establishing camps. Some camps became permanent. All of those would be under a lot of water now.

Did they take some kind of boat/canoe down the coast?

That is the theory that is shaking up the old view of traveling by foot. There appears to be very old evidence of human presence from southern South America. Even today, with modern gear, traveling by foot from Panama into South America is not an easy feat. Large numbers with women and children might well be next to impossible.

Actually it’s part of the story of Noah and the ark which got left out of Genesis. The Bible makes it sound like the only people on board the ark were Noah and his family. But Noah had had to get the help of a lawyer to get the building permits, so he let the lawyer and his family on board, but then the lawyer killed and BBQ’d the last unicorn. When Noah found out, the lawyer taunted him, “What are you going to do—sue me?” Instead Noah put the lawyer and his family on a lifeboat which came to ground in Chile.

"I believe in God’s science. This world has been around 6 thousand yrs. Maybe a Little bit more."

James Usser invented this 'new earth' nonsense back in the 1600's. Why do you keep trying to pollute my religion with this CRAP!

"James Ussher (or Usher; 4 January 1581 – 21 March 1656) was the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland between 1625 and 1656. He was a prolific scholar and church leader, who today is most famous for his identification of the genuine letters of the church father, Ignatius, and for his chronology that sought to establish the time and date of the creation as "the entrance of the night preceding the 23rd day of October... the year before Christ 4004"; that is, around 6 pm on 22 October 4004 BC according to the proleptic Julian calendar. "

That Land Bridge always
seemed a bit of a Stretch.

It also appears it started
with That “Tower of Babel”
Dispersal by God which would
have got My Tail in Gear!

Building a boat and Heading Out
would be Job One,,,
Where?
Don’t care, I’m Rowing!

"All of those would be under a lot of water now."

Good point. The North American ice sheets began to recede 15,000 years ago and sea levels rose over 100 feet all over the world.

On the other hand the Jomon of Japan sailed the Black Current from Japan to South America at least 14,000 BC or over a thousand years before the foot print.

Borne on a Black Current
For thousands of years, the Pacific Ocean’s strong currents have swept shipwrecked Japanese sailors onto American shores

“crossed the seas” — there does seem to be a lot of increasing evidence of this in recent years.

I can easily see people migrating 10 miles a year overland following food supplies. But heading out into the the unknown expanse of the ocean. Wow, what prehistoric man would do that? That’s almost unimaginable. That would have to be a sure death sentence.

About 4.5 billion years more.

I would buy that legend if it weren’t for the fact that the lawyer landed in Chile. That’s just silly. Chile doesn’t have a problem with swarms of lawyers eating out everything in Chile.

If the refugee lawyer that Noah put in the boat had landed in North America and on the current California coast and had been the progenitor of millions of lawyers, I would have believed it. As it is, it just isn’t believable.

After the lawyer left his footprints, he and his family were devoured by saber-toothed capybaras.

Big difference between a targeted known destination long-range trip, and a mass migration of a people. The latter probably required centuries, if not millennia.
