Gov. Dimslee (dem) wants to tear out all of our dams and replace them with windmills. The Democrats have now got solid majorities in both houses and the State Supreme Court is made up completely of liberal idiots. This article starts with a picture of a bunch of windmills in front of Mt. Rainier, which is a more and more common sight these days. It is funny that US News & World Reports is rating this place as the best state. My wife and I were both born here and have lived our entire lives here... we think it is going to hell and are trying to figure out where to move to.

I wonder how much electricity those windmills actually provide. And how many birds must die to produce that electricity.

Yes, it’s amazing how Washington and other blue states get these high ratings went to a large segment of their populations are seeking to move to red states.

East of the Cascade crest, MAYBE

But the better option is the Idaho Panhandle and escape ALL of the insanity that trickles out of Olympia

Washington is a rainy state. Lot of clouds and rain.

I do like a rainy day. Get to stay inside and read a good book.

The "arid rolling hills east of the Cascades" are known as "the Palouse" which is some of the most beautiful country in the US. It is a huge agricultural region producing lots of wheat and legumes.

Nothing like windmills to destroy the beautiful vistas of America. Enjoy your beautiful American scenery before it's gone.

The hills are too steep for conventional combines, so a "leveling combine" was invented to improve production on these hills.

Cheap, climate-friendly electricity drives Washington's economy, the nation's fastest growing

LOL! I'm sure Amazon, Microsoft, Expedia, Zillow, Starbucks and Boeing have nothing to do with that growth.

Aging hydroelectric dams provide most of the electricity Washington uses or exports

What's wrong with this picture?

Move to Idaho.

I live in Spokane, my daughter lives near Sandpoint. She is absolutely furious with Inslee’s forest mis-management program. In WA, no brush clearing is allowed. Therefore, summer fires roar through and destroy trees, keep us at dangerous levels of smoke inhalation a hundred miles from the forests. This year, we are predicted to have massive forest fires with massive loss of trees and wildlife and homes.

Idaho does clear brush, at least as much as they can. Lumbering is very important to the economy. A renewable resource if trees are not turned to cinder.

Inslee is a moron who needs to go. He declared WA a sanctuary state. What could possibly go wrong? All it takes is one moose limb with a pack of matches....

Seattle according a guy that studies collapses of cities says Seattle will be Detroit in a few years - thanks leftist for another nice awesome city destroyed

as the country shifts away from coal- and natural gas-generated electricity. The state expects to be coal-free by 2025, while still charging rates among the nation's lowest.

Uh, at least with respect to natural gas, the author is full of hot air:

I live on a mountain in the Idaho Panhandle and work at a remote critical access hospital in NE Washington. There is not a dime’s worth of difference between the patriots of N. Idaho and NE Washington. You cross west of the Cascades and its California North.

its a rat owned state due to Seattle rat party being the last counter on election night, for some reason....we're all in the same time zone.....

they've just raised taxes by billions..

they want to tear out the dams...eliminate guns...give preference to anybody except whites.....we've had at least two flaming homosexuals as governors....

our property taxes and gas taxes and sales tax makes up more than enough for our lack of a income tax, and the income tax warms the heart of all the rats....

I like where I live...eastern washington....but our economy here is OKAY but not the boom boom of the west side...of course, you have the state govt giving special tax benefits to Boeing so what the heck do we expect...

"expects to be coal-free"

Hydro and Nuclear are the ONLY way that can happen.

I was born here (in WA), as was my father and grandmother. Dad passed away last year, and mom is not doing too good. Once she is gone, I am thinking about moving to the Mexican Coast. CHEAPER everything, less pollution, internet just as good. I can telecommute to my job, and just need to return to the US every 6 months for an hour or two.
