Saltie crocs... huge Great Whites on the Barrier Reef and beyond.. and a whole lot of other dangers in that wild country.
Have to agree there- and for that matter in the outback— as regards the deadliest viper of all snakes— the Australian Brown snake (deadliest venom per measure). Would rather, if a choice was given, be bitten by a cotton mouth moccasin in the Okefenokee swamp (well... not really, but it would have some chance of recovery given an antivenin in time).
Your sealplane is quite impressive.
Perfect music match
Maybe because HE WAS ON THE 28TH FLOOR OF A RESORT. Even if he was, ever yell over crashing waves?
He could have called the lifeguard station. And/or just got off his big fat lazy ass and went down there for himself. Even if the swimmer didn't hear him, he could have still gotten her attention by waving his arms.
And it would have been stupid wasting potentially precious time figuring out what type of shark it was and what that particular shark's 'normal' diet might be, as if most people would have a frigging clue anyway.
Perhaps afterwards, when they possibly had known what it was, everyone could then have a big laugh over it. But at a moment like that you really ought to let someone know if a potential man-eating fish is in their immediate vicinity and moving in on them.
The swimmer did eventually swim away (quickly) from the shark. So maybe someone on the beach actually did do the right thing and let her know about it.
My wife absolutely hates snakes.
We stopped to visit a roadside park in Louisiana on a car trip. We wandered into the park and walked along the waterways for quite a while until I spotted a very interesting sign. It was a very elaborate warning about snakes and cautioned the reader, in case of a bite, to make note of the type of snake.
I was very careful to distract my wife from reading the signs as we made our way out of the park. I can't remember now if I told her about the signs or not. Sometimes saying nothing is the best policy.
Do you really consider it THAT big a deal making such a small effort to potentially save another person's life? It's easy to say after the fact, when the shark didn't actually attack, after it had creeped up on the woman, that there was "nothing to worry about". It's a common excuse for people who rarely if ever bother helping other people out.
Like seeing someone blindly walking out into traffic and (luckily) not getting struck by a car, "See, I told you there was nothing to worry about"! "And you wanted me to get off my fat lazy butt and warn them about the cars and trucks they clearly didn't see coming.
I don’t believe that the woman was in danger, and the result proves I was correct.
Do you believe that resort areas encourage people being eaten by sharks?
There are LOTS of sharks that are quite large that eat microscopic plankton.
I bet you jump up on chair when you see a mouse, don’t you?
A man from California died after an apparent shark attack in Hawaii on Saturday, officials said.
The Maui Fire Department said the incident happened around 9 a.m. at Honokowai Point near Kaanapali Beach Park area on Maui as the man was swimming about 60 yards from shore.
The 65-year-old man was pulled ashore with injuries that were traumatic, life-threatening and consistent with a shark attack, fire officials told KHON2.
Allison Keller, who witnessed the man being pulled to shore, told Hawaii News Now the man looked unconscious as he was transferred to a gurney.
As we got closer, I saw some blood on his stomach and then I got looking a little bit more and his wrist, it looked like the skin on his wrist was just torn off, Keller told Hawaii News Now.
And then I got looking closer and his entire left leg from his knee down was just missing. There was no blood or anything.
Maui officials said the man was swimming in water roughly 20 to 25 feet deep. Winds at the time were light, with 1-foot surf and clear waters at the time.
You're only reaffirming your stupidity and lack of any real concern for others.
Why are you such a dick?
That isn’t sand, the huge dark mass is a giant school of baitfish. And the teeming mass of fish is what Sharky was after. When people get bit by sharks while swimming off a beach it isn’t typically in the clear waters far out but rather in the surf zone close in where the shark’s vision is obscured by foam and disturbed sand as it swims, mouth agape, to catch baitfish.
Because I don’t suffer fools gladly?
That’s great...I love the way you put that...:)
That looks like a blast! Like a dog sticking its head out the window, only for humans...!
Lol! Sorry, just now saw and read your post. And obviously didn't catch it in the complete article at the link, either. I had to trim the article for the excerpt. Thanks!
Yes, but according to someone on this thread, you're supposed to know for a fact that this particular shark species was/is completely harmless and no threat whatsoever to the woman swimmer, even though it had steadily moved in on her prior to her rapidly swimming away toward the shore.
Vertical fricken video alert.
Sharks are like guns. Treat everyone as if it’s loaded.
? Could you please repeat that in English.
Lol! That's the way I and I think most other people would look at it.
