Unfortunately I can no longer get Decades here in Pittsburgh.

Because about a year ago CBS-owned KDKA pulled it in favor of Start TV, which airs “procedural dramas featuring STRONG WOMEN.”

Not coincidentally this happened at exactly the same time when the #MeToo feces hit the fan for Les Moonves.

Cool beans.

TZ is one of these shows that I thought was good when younger.

Now, it just seems pointless and nonsensical.

When there is a point it’s often generic leftist or liberal.

Eh, Amazon Prime Video has every single episode. These marathons are not as cool anymore, especially because they have commercial interruptions too.

Before we moved, we were able to see this network. Sigh, no longer! Many stars made their debut in this series and it's always interesting to see them then as opposed to today. Twilight Zone (1959) episodes

Netflix and Hulu also offer the Zone. No commercials as well.

I really enjoy it. One surprising fun part is that most episodes were filmed on 16mm film. With a modern 4k set the picture is so sharp that it’s easy to see the physical flaws in the sets. So much of it must have been filed under, “this will never show on anybody’s TV set.” That may have been true then, but with modern TV’s presenting the full detail ofthe 16mm film, you see all the rough spots in the walls, the gaps at the floor, etc. Same with the Andy Griffith show. And Pettycoat Junction.

And we watched one of the first episodes of Gidget (Sally Fields as a teen) and there she was, displaying a camel toe for all to see. We were a bit shocked, frankly.

I had long heard the rumors swirling in Trekkie circles about Counselor Troi camel toe. I thought those were the inane ramblings of a bunch of socially awkward incel types.

Until I bought my first HD set and was dozing off on the couch to Star Trek TNG. She made her entrance to the scene and.....WHOA! THERE it is!

I actually felt very bad for her, as by reputation she is a very nice woman in real life.

We dumped TV in 1997. We got Amazon Prime a couple of years ago and, a little over a year ago, found out they included free video - and we had just purchased a 4k smart TV for a few hundred bucks. It had Amazon Prime, Netflix and a host of other streaming software built in. Since we use wi-fi all over the house, we simply went into Amazon Prime, plugged in our email and password, and have hundreds and thousands of old and new TV shows and movies at our fingertips that can be watched on demand - for free.

And the funny part is that we live out in the sticks with no cable or phone lines. Everything is via our AT&T cell phone data plan. We have an old phone taped up in a window as a “wi-fi hotspot” and our computers and TV are talking with the world through that little thing. High rez and high speed.

There’s the rub. Every occupation has its occupational hazards. Imagine what it would be like to be a strong Christian woman who, a few decades ago, was a popular pr0n star. If your job includes getting video recorded, once it’s out there, it’s out there, no matter who you are today.

Thanks for the tip.

I recently inherited some property with a cabin in a rather remote area. No cable there, although I always have cell phone signal. I suppose with a sufficient cell plan I can access TV at night.

Remember “V”, the alien invasion TV series?

I just spent days binge re-watching it. The original airing
was so long ago that I didn’t remember the series being
cancelled midway through its last season. After all that time
bingeing, I thought, “This is a depressing ending...”

Then I googled and found I’d been watching a truncated series.

Aargh.

I think that any woman, in any sort of role in the public arena, must sadly resign themselves to thousands of idiots on the World Wide Web with WAAAAAAY too much time on their hands, continually splicing your head onto other peoples’ naked bodies.

In Northern Virginia, SyFy channel has been doing that for a number of years. GREAT known quantity. Rod Serling was a genius and had a talent for pulling talent together.

Gotta dust off the copy of “1776,” and pull out the pocket Constitution with the Declaration of Independence!

Happy Independence Day!
