Polish officials joined war veterans on Sunday to pay tribute to a World War II-era underground force that collaborated with Nazi forces toward the end of the war in their battle against the Communists, who were imposing control on the nation.
A mass in Warsaw opened ceremonies honoring the Holy Cross Mountains Brigade of the National Armed Forces on the 75th anniversary of its formation.

WW II started when Poland was invaded by Germany and Russia acting in cahoots with each other. Poles had to fight both Nazis and Russian communists.

This has nothing to do with the EU.
Russia took the east Germany took the west. Von Ribentrop and Molotov made the deal for Hitler and Stalin. I Hate the Hitler Nazis but the Stalinist communists were as as bad or worse. I can see groups in Poland picking one poison over another.
This is crap. Not fighting the Nazis in order to fight the communists is not the same a collaboration.
And there is something wrong with this? Who is to say that the US did not help these people, laying a protective wall against the future commie takeover- with networks that fought the communists all along since Stalin’s betrayal at Potsdam. The polish “formers” knew everybody who was on the other side- and in place.
The transition period when Russia finally declared war on Japan (amazing!) having failed in intriguing through their spy network (a well known spy for Soviets in Japan) aiding the military coup attempt and firefight between elements of the Army of Japan, and the Imperial Palace guard— that almost caught and killed Hirohito (facts- spy network aided the Tojo cabal in entering the Royal Grounds- to kill Hirohito and destroy the Record/recording he made to be played directly to the Japanese people from the radio station there at the Palace).
This article is put out to castigate the current Polish government in their eagerness to leave the EU, run by ...... germany (german socialists/communists, not nazis)— to embarrass the memorial- for communist fighters. This was the reality, and these “nazis” may have only been the Abwehr, the ones who worked for Admiral Canaris (whom Hitler hanged for espionage). The old Prussian/Polish connections, the Poles having ZERO military leadership— Stalin having NKVD murdering some 10,000 officers at Katyn Forest.
Their choice was fascists or communists. In the real world fascism = communism.

I think what is wrong with it is not taking orders from the exiled Polish government and killing fellow poles who were fighting the Nazis. The USSR at the time was an Allied partner.
We likely would not have won the war without them. They analyzed the Enigma machine and code, and developed techniques to defeat it during the 1930s. They transmitted the information to the Allies in 1939. It was how we broke the NAZI code.
England would likely have lost the battle of Britain without the code. They could easily have lost the battle of the Atlantic without the code, We could easily have lost in North Africa without the code...

The Brexit slow up, created by Theresa May was over the Northern Ireland (being part of the UK) being withdrawn, affecting the companies set up in Northern Ireland, and the tariffs that would commence with anything coming in from the EU into the now withdrawn non-EU member UK/Northern Ireland.Coming in via Republic of Ireland, or by sea from... anywhere. The “invested” foreign sited companies in N. Ireland. The Tory (conservatives) say— tough crap, and this would remove the political/money/EU pressure put on N. Ireland by the Irish Republic (which would remain as part of the EU and thus the N. Ireland trade with Repub of Ireland greatly reduced due to the tariffs).

Adding to the tension, is the very long memory the UK have about how “UN-neutral” Ireland was during WWII- german agents, and much else through Ireland into N. Ireland and there to London. The story of Normandy invasion deception had to be protected from “irish eyes”/german spies. There is also a lingering memory of the treatment of some 5000 Irish Army members who shed their uniforms to join the British Army & fight Hitler and how they and their descendants have been treated since the war.

The Germans have been trying to destroy Europe for 100+ years. It looks like their having given power to an East German is the formula they've been looking for.
The problem is that on several occasions they fought alongside nazis.
