Heartbreaking story. All reports say that he was a nice kid who wasn’t looking for any trouble.
The other teens hopefully called 911, and maybe some tried to help after the attack.
But no teen should’ve tried to break up that fight.
35 years ago, a college student in my class was stabbed to death when he tried to break up a fight.
These stories of teens standing around always sound horrifying... until I remember what happened to that student 35 years ago.
LibsRJerks, I live on Long Island and it’s not a “godforsaken hellhole.”
ProtectOurFreedom, this is not “SOP for New Yorkers” and the Kitty Genovese story was the fake news of it’s day - look it up (I grew up a mile or two from that location).
HighSierra5, as an unarmed 16 year old student, you would have intervened between a knife-weilding gang and it’s victim? Really?
I spent 15 years upstate after being born in White Plains. Most people upstate thought at the time that that was SOP for NYC.
Fair enough, but as someone who grew up in NYC (I moved to LI in my 30’s after my first 2 kids were born) I can assure you that the opinions of upstaters about city people is often as inaccurate as those that city folk hold of people Upstate. Any the perpetuation of the Kitty Genovese myth only serves to reinforce those often false stereotypes.
City vs small town vs rural — always enough disinformation and distrust to go around, no doubt about that.
One of my very first recollections of politics was around age 13 in Ithaca (1964) when I overheard the adults endlessly complaining about taxes and how Albany bled everybody dry to pay for NYC!
Dad’s close friend had an address sign on his mailbox on Texas Lane. He swapped two letters around and made the mailbox read “Taxes Lane.” I very proudly told him that he made a typo on his mailbox; all the adults then had a good laugh at my young and innocent naiveté! They all explained how I would understand when I got older. Being a Californian since 1973, I sure did learn that lesson well.
Ithaca is now a hotbed of liberalism, similar to a Newton MA or so many other leftist places.
It was a great place to raise a family 50 years ago. It was ruined like so many other nice places by rampant liberalism. Cornell University, and to a lesser extent, Ithaca College, control the politics in the area.
18yo “rapper” thought he was tough. He bullied this 16yo boy and then murdered him.
Let’s see how tough he is in prison.
RIP Khaseen
Yep, an adult killed a kid on video. He’s going away for a long rough time. Azzhole.
Another aspiring rapper.
