>> Comic books were never my thing. I do enjoy a good movie. <<

I do recommend 2003's Mystery of the Batwoman if you're open to animated films but not familiar with the Kathy Kane character. For a direct-to-video movie, its better than a lot of theatrical films and many of the live action Batmans (including Christian Bale's overrated Throat Cancer Batman)

Mild spoiler alert, they do deviate from the source material a bit to "update" 1950s era Batwoman for the 21st century, and turn her into Kathy Duquesne (pronounced "Du-Kane" of course), a Halle Berry-esque saavy daughter of notorious gang leader Carlton Duquesne.

(That's still MILES better than the man-hating, Rachel Maddow-esque butch lesbian "Kate Kane" they've invented for the current TV show, which stars an actual butch lesbian AND features the real-life Rachel Maddow as her assistant!)

The 2003 movie retained Kathy Kane's tradition role as a love interest to Batman, giving her a sort of femme fatale angle, and it included a traditional caucasian redhead character as a nod to the original Kathy Kane. It's a very clever who-dune-it mystery film and there's a cool twist at the end that I won't give away, let's just say its more complex than "Kathy Duquesne is really Batwoman". And I love the way Batman gets all under the collar at "some woman is stealin' my act!" when Batwoman first appears on the scene.

I’m glad I never got emotionally invested in these comic book universes. I’d likely be pissed beyond belief by now. It’s bad enough watching them destroy Star Trek.

Agreed. I enjoyed the original cast Star Trek movies, probably more than watching the old TV shows. I never got into the Next Gen spin offs. I had high hopes that the new movies with Chris Pine would be exciting forays into the early years of the original 5 year mission that the TV show was already in progress on. The actors all had great potential but the movie scripts ruined it all. Instead of coming up with original stories in deep space exploration, everything comes back to crashing the Enterprise and saving the Earth.

Legally, as it turned out, they were not allowed to use the timeline/stories, etc. of the Trek universe. They were effectively just using the names and little else. Everything had to be changed, even the ship. If the AbramsFauxTrek had been the original series, it would’ve been utterly forgettable.

Batwoman is a lesbo and thus a probable love interest. I read that in this show, Batwoman was kicked out of the military for being a dyke. Talk about pining for the past. She’d be fast-tracked to general in the real world.

In my opinion, what they made was utterly forgettable.

The comic book nerds consider me to be a poser because 90% of my knowledge about comic book characters comes from watching animated series as a kid rather than the original source material. I just didn't read comics as a kid, and I've only read a handful of "classic" comics an adult.

They won't even admit that some of the most popular "comic" storylines and characters originated in television/movies instead of the original comics. For example, Joker's sidekick Harley Quinn originated in a 1992 episode of Batman: The Animated Series, and is now the most popular Joker accompliance. Hell, even the reason Batman's butler Alfred looks the way we imagine (an elderly lanky prim and proper british man) original came from the 1940s serials, NOT from the comics (where he had previously been depicted as a stout short bald man)

But yes, if you study the history of these characters and settings, the SJWs have raped iconic comic book characters even worse than their Star Trek or James Bond counterparts.

>> It’s bad enough watching them destroy Star Trek. <<

What's really sad is I tried to get out of my mind by saying "screw it, I'm done with Star Trek" and ignore the whole thing because I stopped caring about Michael Burnham and whatever she does two years ago. But I can't stop hearing about how they continue to destroy classic characters and continue to crap all over Gene Roddenberry's vision for Star Trek, so its infuriating. For example, they just released a "Short Trek" segment on the internet that had "Spock" and "Number One" sharing a hearty belly laugh in a turbolift, even though BOTH characters were specifically written by Roddenberry to be emotionless and stoic. It would be akin to depicting a Muslim and a vegan stuffing themselves at a Pig Roast BBQ.

>> I read that in this show, Batwoman was kicked out of the military for being a dyke. <<

Ugh. That's also the total antithesis of the character, when you keep in mind she was created in the 1950s specifically to be a love interest for Batman, and envisioned as a wealthy and classy Gotham socialite (even the 2003 version that made her the daughter of a powerful gang leader maintained that aspect!) She was specifically said to be a very charming and luscious redhead that utilized weapons and tools disguised as stereotypical feminine accoutrements such as lipstick, cosmetic compacts, charm bracelets, hair nets, etc.

In short, redesigning her backstory as a man-hating butch lezbo who got kicked out of the military for being a dyke is akin to depicting Calvin Coolidge as an outspoken white supremacist leading the Alabama Democratic Party by evoking the image of the Lost Cause.

Worse, the character was slowly phased out and became obscure to audiences after 1964 (I was not aware of her until 2003), so Batgirl pretty much replaced her as the "female sidekick to Batman" that most audiences are familiar with. That means this generation will see the lezbo SJW fascist as who they associate with as "Batwoman".

I watched it last night (New Short Treks). I like the Short Treks, the Tribble one was much better than this one though, this one was probably the weakest entry.

They were trapped in the turbolift. I’d rather be trapped alone so at least I could go pee, and no awkward conversation (till they come in and notice the pee anyway).

Anyway, they laughed a little (at something weird that wasn’t funny). It wasn’t a big deal (especially in her case, she’s a human woman with ONE canon appearance, who says she can never laugh?).

I liked seeing the “Number One” character, such a missed opportunity from the stupid reboot movies. I’ll say again a Pike/Number One/Young Spock prequel series would have been better than that let alone this Discovery crap.

I hate this turd they have play Spock, honestly he’s worse than Zach Queetro, he has no gravitas whatsoever.

One thing though he says to her “Have you ever considered that the prime directive is not only not ethical, but also illogical and perhaps morally indefensible?”.”

She said no and seemed annoyed, but I sure have. In fact, it’s total BS and arbitrarily applied at that and I hate how no one in the fascist federation is allowed to question it.’

People gonna be MAD if “Picard” sucks.

Spock and Number One were BOTH written by Roddenberry to specifically be emotionless, computer-like cold fish around other people in public. Having them share a belly laugh in a turbolift with EACH OTHER is akin to showing a Muslim and a vegan sitting down together and eagerly stuffing themselves with pork roast at a BBQ.

(and yes, I also hated Spock chuckling with McCoy in Star Trek Beyond. That and "gay Sulu" were two awful parts of an otherwise solid movie)

Not if it was on CBS All Access and being written and produced by the same people who made STD, which it inevitably would be in the current climate.

That turd is the grandson of Gregory Peck (we've amusingly nicknamed his version of Spock, 'Pecker Spock') and I agree with you there. Worse than Quinto (at least Quinto LOOKED the part). The weird thing is guy comes around as a second-rate Zachary Quinto imperonator. He also comes across as a "gayer" (more prissy and feminine) version of Quinto, in spite of the fact that Quinto IS gay and Ethan Peck is "100% straight"!
