For the past few months, I have been given several surveys to complete by the Nielsen rating company. So far, I have received about $30 in crisp cash.
Now they want me to be a 'metered' participant. I and each member of my household simply wear a 'pager' type meter during the day and we get $10 per person to try it and $15 person to wear a month. At the end of 90 days, each participant receives $50. Each week there is a $500 sweepstakes.
I figure that at least Karma and Ginger can earn their dog food and bones. This should be interesting.
What are your thoughts?
Do it legit or not at all.
Hmmm...a pair of family members who mostly stay in one room, only leave the house a couple of times a day and never go farther away than the back yard? Sounds a bit suspicious, y’know?
Why would someone even consider that?
You are supposed to keep it confidential so no one pressures you to watch a certain TV or listen to a certain radio station. My dad did it for two years and it was a great experience for him.
Why make a mockery of the process? This helps you influence what the rest of the nation watches
True. He has done broke their main rule.
We go for walks and I take them wherever I go. They love to ride in the car or truck.

I didn’t know Nielson was still collecting ratings in this way. You must meet certain marketing targets of potential value. If I may ask, are you in a relatively high income household?
I’m age 63, which is not usually the target for first tier marketing. I’m middle class and with no current dependents. So, there are only so many kinds of merchandise that I would be expected to be buying or planning to buy in the present fiscal year.
Why would someone even consider that?
Why not? Pay a couple of kids to throw it in their backpack and have my son bring it back each day.
Oh yeah, We would exclusively tune in to conservative stations.
Sound more like millennials to me. Get the dogs $250,000 student loans a piece for obedience school and there would nary be a difference. Statistically equal. Unemployed, drowning in debt, and watching TV while someone else is out working to feed them.
Are there any other organizations that you will permit to bug your home?

You owe me a new keyboard and beverage. The whole process is a mockery. Time to fight back.
Besides, my girls love to chase squirrels. I have put a Fitbit on them before and they get more exercise that the average person.
No, you are misinformed. Nielsen needs a cross section of America - a representative sample. My dad was 86 years old when they chose him and he did it for two years.
Sounds like animal cruelty—TV is so foul these days it is not even fit for dog consumption. ;-)
(Actually, I like your plan.)
> I and each member of my household simply wear a ‘pager’ type meter during the day <
Wait a minute. Do they want you to wear that pager only while you watch TV, or do they want you to wear it everywhere?
If its only while watching TV, you might want to go for it. As others have noted, you will help influence what is shown on TV.
But if its everywhere, go ahead and put it on your dog. They deserve that just for asking you to do such a thing.

No....this determines what corporations spend ad dollars on which nightly fake news operation.....
Oh really?
Sometimes a company’s reputation and the reality of how they operate are two different things.
I stand (sit) corrected.
I did the initial part of the survey once... where you write everything you watch into the TV diary.
What was funny is that two dollars came with the initial offer. lol. I wonder how many 2 dollars they lost doing that.
Once I sent in the diary, I think it was $30 they sent me.
I did not think they were serious but after three months of questioning and answering. I meet their qualifications have made some easy cash.
I live in the Atlanta area and make a few bucks. I am currently building a company for my son. We mainly build computers. My son also does website design, server hosting, and coding. He will graduate in May and have half of his college credits already completed. He could have graduated two years ago, but the state pays for his college. Oh yeah, his mom was going through cancer and died in 2017.
